Heavy, imposing and beautifully made this 1980s Mexican “thumbprint” bracelet is obviously copying Antonio Pineda’s original design. One of the maestro’s coveted, book-piece creations, the “thumbprint” epitomizes the boldness of Taxco’s modernism: not fussy yet massive; not wordy yet statement-making; always impeccably crafted and most of the times, quite comfortable to wear. Like the bracelet at hand. Measuring 7” long (wearable) by 1” wide and 1/2” thick it weighs 135.2 grams and is signed with maker’s registration code “TC-112” as well as “MEXICO” and “925”. It dates in the post-1980 period and is in excellent vintage condition with strong architectural presence, nice patina and no damage or repairs noted.
