A prolific maestro and one of Taxco’s best modernists, Sigi Pineda enjoyed a long, fruitful career and his jewelry is loved and sought after by aficionados of vintage Mexican jewelry. Made of sterling silver in an asymmetrical design, this hinged bangle bracelet plays with geometry and juxtaposes the shiny surface of the metal with the deep blackness of the stone. Eye-catching, beautifully made, very very mod - and a version of Sigi’s hinged bracelets that doesn’t come up very often. With an inner circumference of 6 7/8”(clasped) the bracelet has a width between 1 5/8” at center front and 1/2” and it weighs 68.5 grams. It is fully hallmarked with Sigi’s signature as shown, “MADE IN MEXICO STERLING”, des. no 281 and Eagle 3 assay mark. It dates in the 1950s-60s and is in excellent vintage condition - a quite difficult version of Sigi’s hinged bracelets to find, with nice patina, strong presence and no damage or repairs noted.
