 SOLD - Thank you!
I never tire of the double-sided pendant necklaces Victor Jaimez created for Emma Melendez. The perfect blend of Aztec Revival and modernismo Mexicano, they are unfailingly characterized by craftsmanship of the highest level and meticulous finishing. At the same time dramatic and awe-inspiring, the pendant's two sides showcase several techniques as overlay, oxidation and mozaico inlay come together to create the image of Quetzalcoatl and the abstract figure of a Meso-american monkey. The chain that completes the set is hefty, hand-made and in our specific case, signed as well - an extra treat for the lovers of Jaimez / Emma collaborations. The necklace measures 20 1/4" long (for the chain) with the pendant being 2 1/8" wide by 1 7/8" tall (without the bail) and adding a 2 1/2" drop to the chain with the bail. The duo weighs 50.6 grams and is signed with Jaimez's initials as shown as well as "EMMA" alongside "HECHO EN MEX TAXCO 925" and "TAXCO STERLING". It dates in the 1950s and is in very good vintage condition with great patina, beautiful design, its oxidation in excellent shape and just a couple of very shallow, superficial, small pops in the stone inlay - not offensive to the eye and adding character more than taking away from the necklace's appeal.
