Crafted of 14k yellow gold and housing a silver coin that shows chariot horses and their charioteer this impressive, towering ring is, I believe, of Greek extraction. The coin is a reproduction of an ancient Macedonian piece from the time of Phillip II, the father of Alexander the Great - part of the king's name in Greek letters "...ΛΙΠΠΟΥ" (of Philip) can be seen under the beasts' hind legs. The chunky, generously heavy shank and setting are shaped in an "architectural" form that is characteristic of the 1980s / 90s and I believe the ring was bought in Greece, maybe even in Plaka, in Athens, or on one of the islands when its first owner was enjoying the sun and crystal blue waters of the Aegean. Currently a sz 6 US (resizable by your jeweler) the ring has a face that measures 3/4" by 5/8" and a 7/16" rise. It weighs a good 16.7 grams and while not hallmarked for metal quality, it has been tested and guaranteed to be 14k gold and sterling silver (for the coin only). It is difficult to date with accuracy but I would suggest 1980s/90s. In excellent vintage condition with stunning presence, a warm gold color (I love the color of Greek gold), very architectural and visually interesting, with nice relief and detail in the reproduction coin, with no damage and no repairs noted.
