Japanese Late Edo to Early Meiji Period Takeda doll. The doll looks like a theatrical representation of a historical character, possibly Kato Kiyomasa, with distinct facial expression. The doll has GOFUN (powder made from oyster shells) head and hands, painted eyes, cloth, wood and paper clothing and weapon. Great facial and body expression. The doll and stand measures 23 1/2" tall and 13" wide and 11" deep. The doll only measures 17" tall by 13" wide by 11" deep. The stand measures 13" wide, 6 1/2" tall and 9" deep.
