A Chinese white porcelain snuff bottle, probably Dehua, known in the West as ‘Blanc de Chine’. The moulded body, each side decorated with a central roundel of flowers surrounded with a pair of bats and a Shou character. The stopper, missing its spoon, appears to be faded purple stained soapstone. The thin body is very translucent and inside there are traces of former contents.

A Chinese Guan ware bowl, 18th century. The bowl has incurving walls rather like an alms bowl. Golden thread and iron wire crazing demonstrated beautifully on the interior. It is in perfect condition.

There is a subtle difference between the colour inside the bowl as if it has changed slightly and improved with age and use. The foot is interesting as within the foot-rim the body is recessed a little and it has a darkish mushroom tone to the glaze where it is thicker...

A Chinese embroidered silk roundel, 17th ~ 19th century. The panel has been created using a variety of stitching techniques and appears to show a celebration of some kind. It is possible that this is an applique that would have been temporarily attached to a garment, in the same fashion as a rank badge, for a particular celebration.

Approximately 32 cm diameter. The panel is partially attached by its edge to a card backing which I suspect could be removed easily...

The silver gilt appliqué depicts a dancing boy beneath an umbrella formed by a giant branch taken from a peach tree. A deer holding a lingzhi in its mouth and a bat with coin tassels accompanies him. The work is very fine, as you would expect from the late Ming period. The appliqué was intended to be sewn to a costume and therefore is quite delicate and light in weight...

A Chinese bronze drum-shaped censer raised on three ruyi feet. Each side is cast with four gamboling lion dogs attracted to a large ribboned pearl of wisdom. The background is covered entirely with fine punch work. The base is signed with the mark of probably the most famous of Ming metalworkers, Hu Wenming. 'Hu Wenming was one of the best-known and most accomplished master metalworkers of the late Ming period. Gilt-metal pieces from his workshops were especially sought after by scholars and lit...

The Chinese porcelain dish has a border of two repeating elements, a garlanded ruyi and three interlinked rings. The centre of the dish depicts a Chinese landscape with two scholars approaching a solitary angler. The dish was made for the Japanese where such pieces were used and much appreciated in the tea ceremony, at a time when the Japanese porcelain industry was in its infancy.

Approximately 15.5 cm diameter. No cracks or restoration, just some inevitable mushikui, “worm eaten edg...

The extensive village and river scene has many figures, I counted 20. It has a nice patina and looks ‘dry’ and untouched. I resisted the temptation to oil and then wax polish it but that is something you might consider. 19th century.

Approximately 18 cm high, 15.2 cm across the oval. The pot has some largish age cracks but none that go to the inside. There is a small hole in the wall where the carver has gone too deep, you can see this in one of the detail photographs.

A Chinese turquoise glazed meiping vase, Kangxi period, late 17th or early 18th century. The vase is thickly glazed with a finely crackled blue glaze. This glaze is more intense in reality than portrayed in my photographs. The neck has been reduced and fitted with a copper collar. The foot-rim is slightly rough as a result of adhering to the kiln support, within the foot the body has been wiped with a clear glaze.

Approximately 13.8cm high. Please study the photographs. ...
