A large Japanese Arita porcelain dish decorated with bursting pomegranates and ‘Buddha’s hand’, finger citrons, all within a Chinese Wanli Kraak style border. A similar large dish is illustrated in ‘Japanese Porcelain’ by Soame Jenyns. Faber & Faber, London. 1965, where it is identified as a product of the Sarugawa Kiln. Manji/Tenwa period (1658~1683).
Approximately 34.4 cm diameter. Fine condition. Light surface wear from normal use.
