A large Japanese Export porcelain cover. Decorated with Paulownia mon. Manufactured in Arita circa 1660 ~ 1680. Shibata (The Complete Catalogue of the Shibata Collection, Kyushu Ceramic Museum. 2002) illustrates a vessel with same design. #1402.

Approximately 28 cm diameter. The diameter of the inner flange is 25.7 cm.

The lid has old damage and has been repaired with rivets. Apart from the obvious ( from the inside ) break there is a crack just below that travels half way across. The knop has been broken off and has been put back with a long metal rivet. Chip to rim.
