Large size (11 3/4"), this bronze vase has applied sterling silver irises. The finish is bronze with verde sections visible, a mottled or variegated finish often utilized on Heintz Art Metal products. This piece is unsigned, and is early, prior to the patent pending and patent dates for this design, which is #3657. Like all Heintz Art vases and other objects, the bronze is a nice heavy weight, and the silver designs are also heavy and in high relief. In good condition, with a few minor scrapes to the finish, the most obvious one a lighter spot near the bottom, between the stems of the iris, visible in photo of bottom section of the vase. Another vertical scrape is visible in another photo. The scrapes are rather typical, as these items were considered utilitarian items and were subject to use. A very large size, with a lovely applied floral element, this vase is striking and a fine example of the simple and elegant designs of the Arts and Crafts era.
