In exceptionally fine condition, this pair of spurs was likely made for a child, but also could have been made for a woman's foot. Crafted of iron, the spurs are inlaid all over, including the rondels, with silver stripes and foliate designs etched with curvilinear and "wiggle work" designs. They measure 3" across (outside measurement) and 2 5/8" inside, and are 3 5/8" from tip of rondel to end of spur. As is visible in the photos, the silver is intact, with slight wear and is lightly tarnished. Small sizes like this are scarce, and this pair is a nice example of metal work in the Spanish Colonial tradition.
