By Franz Bergman (Austria 1898-1863), this cold painted Austrian bronze depicts a parakeet or budgie, standing with head slightly turned. The budgie has a green and yellow body and blue tail, with wing feathers in black and white. It measures 7 1/4" long and is just under 3" high. It is in excellent condition with good bright paint, with very minor paint loss on his beak and face. It is signed "Austria" and has Bergman's monogram of a B within an urn, though it is not real clear, as the paint is heavy over this area. One of the toes on the left foot is slightly raised, but overall the budgie is in great condition, and like so many of Bergman's animal bronzes, is lifelike and quite charming.
