Published in Japan in 1979 by the Charles E. Tuttle Company, this volume has 396 numbered pages, with 18 plates, and extensive drawings and photographs of the entire collection of Edward S. Morse. In addition, the text describes the pottery, illustrates the artist and potter signatures, and gives a history of pottery making in Japan. As one of the more important collections of Japanese pottery ever comprised in the US, the collection now is displayed in the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. The book retains its original dust jacket, and the slipcover. It measures 11" x 8 1/8", including the slipcover. In excellent condition, with only a slight bending of two corners of the dust jacket (top right, front and back), the book is near new, and has the original price of $60 on the slipcase and on the inside dust jacket. It is a wonderful and essential reference for any collector of Japanese pottery.
