Of waisted form, on flared base with three feet, this Bidri Hookah base dates to the mid 19th century, from the city of Bidar in the Deccan region of India. The silver inlay depicts floral, foliate, and geometric designs, and is in good condition, with minor losses. The silver has not been polished, so would be much brighter and in strong contrast with the dark metal base. The handle is brass, and is also inlaid with silver. It measures 5 3/8" to top of handle, 4 3/4" to mouth of base, and is 6 1/4" in diameter.
