Known primarily for ginbari or basse-taille works, Hayakawa Komejiro perfected this technique, creating very fine vases, often in the deep red Pigeons Blood color. The translucent red enamel covers the detailed silver design, of bamboo leaves and stalks over a stippled background. The vase measures 3 1/2" high by 3" wide, with a foot of 1 1/2" in diameteter. It is signed on the base. In excellent condition, with no marks, cracks, or abrasions (there is a lot of reflection in the photos, but none of the white spots are damage, only reflections) An exquisite piece by this fine artist, the color and form are outstanding.
