Sterling arts and crafts design clip on earrings by Madeleine Turner, a designer working in New York from the 1930s through the 1950s The earrings are in a stylized flower shape, with a central stone of bright green. The stone could be jade, chrysoprase, or other bright colored stone. The stones are oval cabochons. The earrings measure 1" x 7/8" and have a clip on back. They are both stamped "An original M Turner Sterling" The clip on fasteners are in good working order and hold a firm grip. Some bits of tarnish visible. Sorry the photo of the signature is unclear, but they are guaranteed to be the work of Turner, and the signature is used on such smaller items. Madeleine Turner was a designer for Frederik Lunning In New York, where he operated the retail shop for George Jensen. When imports of Jensen items became scarce during the war, Lunning hired designers to create items in the Jensen style. Among those designers were Alphonse La Paglia and Madeleine Turner.
