Of terracotta or earthenware, this lovely sculpture depicts a pug dog lying down, has glass eyes and a red collar. Painted surface over tan body. With big jowls and black ears, he is quite endearing, and is in good condition for its age. Condition is good overall, with no breaks or chips, just minor loss to paint surface, all visible in photos. Most dog figures like this were made in Germany, and were imported all over the world to dog fanciers. Sometimes it is difficult to be sure of the breed, as some artistic license was involved, and dogs have changed since these figures were made. The face of this guy is a bit like a Mastiff also, with the big jowls, but overall it does seem to be a pug, and is not stout and short enough to be a bulldog. A really nice addition to any collection of dog images and sculpture, and his face is just wonderful Shipping via USPS priority mail.
