Large and heavy carved soapstone eagle, with original label, numbers, and initials. Is 8 1/2" high, 7 1/2" wide, and 4 1/4" deep and weighs just a bit under 10 pounds. Very stylized form, with hooked beak, incised eyes and long sharp talons, he sits on a rock or stump. Very slight details for wings. In black soapstone, with some slightly lighter areas and striations visible, the sculpture has a very lovely almost waxy patina. In good condition, a few scratches to surface, but no chips or cracks. The base has four felt pads to protect furniture. An especially large size, with a wonderful modernist form, this sculpture is delightful, and is artistic from every angle. Please see all photos for details, and never hesitate to email any questions. Shipping via USP or Fedex.
