Beautifully carved, this soapstone figure really captures the essence of the stately Polar Bear. He stands 3 3/4" high, 8 1/4" wide, and is 4 3/4" deep, and weighs roughly 4 pounds and 4 ounces. The soapstone is a mottled brown/green, with spots of black, rust, and tan, and has black inlaid eyes. The simplified form is just elegant and lovely, and clearly demonstrates the talent of the carver. In good condition, a few scrapes to the surface, and some colored spots that may or may not be original (see the tip of his nose in close up). There are a few letters on the bottom, not very clear. The bear is mounted on another stone, with the same coloration and mottled quality. Please see all photos for details, and email any questions.
