By the Philadelphia PA silversmith, Christian Wiltberger (1766-1851), this lovely cream jug was likely made around 1800, as Wiltberger was active in Philadelphia from the 1790s until the early years of the 19th century.
It measures 5 1/8" high to top of handle, and is 4 1/4" wide.
Signed on the bottom with Wiltbergers stamp, and has a W etched into the front (probably the owners initial).
Lovely form, fluted in 12 sections, with helmet form to top and lip, with delicate and aesthetic applied handle, it is a fine example of Federal design.
The body is slightly flared, and the rim is edged with an applied band on the underside.
In very good condition, some abrasions to surface and a few small dents and slight bends on lip, some bits of tarnish.
The patina is just beautiful, soft and glowing, typical of coin silver of the era.
