Rare coffee or chocolate set, four pieces, including tray, coffee pot, sugar and creamer, all in copper with silver designs in Arts and Crafts style, both Art Deco and Art Nouveau elements, possibly by Heintz Art Metal, though could be from other makers, including American, British Isles, and Continental. Measurements: Tray is 11 1/8" across flat sides, 12" from pointed edge, 3/4" high, coffee pot is 7 1/4" high, 6 7/8" spout to handle, base is 4 1/4" (flat side), creamer is 3 1/4" high, 4" wide, base 2 7/8", lidded sugar 3 3/4" high, 5 3/8" wide, base 3 3/4". Very striking design, the vessels all of octagonal shape, the pot and sugar with lids and wood finials, heavy silver overlay designs with both geometric and curved forms. Unsigned. Condition shows wear to surface, some minor dents and bends, the finial on pot has a chip missing from base of wood finial. Tarnish visible on silver, copper is dark with some variation in tone. Tray has some very small dents and a slight bend on one side. Lid to sugar fits tightly, and has a slot in body where a small peg on lid must match up to fit. As the set is antique and shows signs of age and usage, it is sold as is. Such complete sets are hard to find, and this one is both artful and very well constructed, obviously by a skilled craftsman. Some early pieces by Heintz were unsigned, so this could possibly be from that company, and certainly is the kind of quality for which Heintz is known. Other possibilities are the British makers, including A E Jones, Know, Liberty etc. The Jugendstil period in Germany and Austria also designed and created similar works. The set has not been cleaned, as the patina should be maintained, but careful polishing of the silver would be recommended. Please see all photos for details and email any questions.
