Pair of Chinese export Canton tea caddies in hexagonal form, blue and white with traditional landscape and geometric banding, 6 carved feet, glazed bottoms, original lids. Measure 5" wide, 6 1/4" high and 3" deep, slight variation in sizes and shapes. Surface of caddies is slightly dimpled with the "orange peel" appearance to the glaze, all decoration in under glaze blue. Hexagon shape, with landscape scenes on front and back, hand painted with slight differences. The scenes depict a pagoda structure with people visible inside, boats on the lake, a bridge, mountains in the background, more pagodas, and plants and trees, all the images found in classic Canton ware. Painting is well detailed and consistent. The lids are decorated with bands and lake scene on top. The glaze shows pitting, dark mineral spots, and rippled surface, is slightly off white, blue is soft muted color found in Canton wares. Condition is good, both have hairline cracks, one on the neck, the other with a slight crack in the shoulder area (see last two photos). One has a slight chip on the bottom edge, feet show wear. They both wobble a bit, as the feet are slightly uneven. Sold as is. Price is for the pair, they are not sold separately. Please see all photos and email any questions. Shipping via USPS or Fedex with tracking and insurance. Shipping delays may occur.
