Metal sculpture by Swedish artist Puck Stocklassa (1922-2014)) of two figures on a horse, figures with matte black surface on rectangular wood stand with artist information on bottom. Measures 9" wide, 9 5/8" high, and 3" deep, these measurements include the stand. The figure alone is roughly 8 3/4" wide, 7 1/2" high and 2 1/8" deep. The metal appears to be copper, as it shows through in some small areas where the black surface is worn. The copper may be only a layer over some other substance, as it does not appear to be solid metal. The copper is painted black, some of which is slightly worn, showing the copper in a few places. Some of the surface is very flat, other areas have a matte finish. Puck Stocklassa is a Swedish artist, primarily a sculptor, and worked in wood, terracotta, bronze, and compositon techniques like this one. His sculptures are modernist with an impressionist style, some in very sleek mcm form, others more in the Brutalist tradition. Very interesting form, with two riders upon the back of the horse, its head slightly down and turned. The figure in back is slumped over, the head hanging down, the one in from sits upright, back slightly curved with head high. It is both artful and enigmatic, has great appeal from all directions. Condition is good, no losses or breaks, wear to wood base and figure, sold as is. Please see all photos for details and email any questions. Shipping via USPS or Fedex with tracking and insurance.
