Here is a classic “gypsy ring,” made from rich yellow 18kt gold. The center stone is a diamond, the outer two stones are rubies. It has decorative scroll work on the shoulders. The hallmarks are for Chester, 1903, and there is a maker’s mark that we can’t read. It weighs 4.0g, and is approximately size 5. The shank is a little off round, and it’s possible that it was sized at some time, however it is in excellent condition. The photos are part of the description; please examine them ca...

Here is a classic Victorian pin/pendant pinwheel, with 9 lovely bright dark purple garnet and glass doublets (from the period when amethysts were quite rare and expensive, so they made these doublets out of comparatively inexpensive material), and lots of seed pearls. It has both a pin stem assembly for use as a brooch, and a jump ring so it can be worn as a necklace. It is stamped 10k on the clasp. There is a small break in the gold framework, which isn’t noticeable without magnification, and...

Here is a pretty Victorian ring with scroll work on the shank. The center decoration is a horizontal row of seed pearls, with two red stones to the north and south. One stone is badly chipped, and both are abraded. One of them might be a doublet, but otherwise we don’t know what they are, because of the abrasions, so assume paste (glass). It is stamped 10K, and is approximately size 8. It could be sized. Circa 1900. The photos are part of the description so please examine them carefully. Than...

The flowing, sinuous lines of this unusual and lovely 10 k gold barrette are SO Art Nouveau. This barrette is sure to attract admiring attention. It has a maker's mark which looks like the K used by Kohn & Company, a Newark, NJ manufacturer of gold jewelry. The company used the K mark in 1922 and 1931 advertisements.

An elegant queen graces the front of this antique locket. She wears a crown with a row of 7 tiny single-cut diamonds, and one slightly larger full-cut diamond at the top of the crown. Her hair cascades down to her shoulder, and gold disks hang from the crown. There is a little dent at about cheek bone height. The back has a monogram, possibly an S, and has several little dents, which are exaggerated in the photos. The rose gold (very hard to photograph the color accurately) tests at about 12k. I...

Here is a very special necklace, combining an Art Nouveau central panel set with a freshwater pearl and a sapphire-blue paste stone with an Etruscan-style fringe. Unmarked, it really looks like gold, however it tests as rolled gold or gold fill (we haven’t tested the fringe for fear of obvious damage). The central panel measures 1-1/4” x 1-1/4” including the dangles. In total, there are 11 graduated dangles or drops, the longest being 3/4” and the shortest 3/8”. The total length is 16...

This elegant sterling silver fancy-link chain comes from the era of the Titanic, but could be as late as the Art Deco period (Downton Abbey! The Great Gatsby!). It is interesting enough to be worn on its own, or you could hang a pendant or watch from it. The clasp is stamped “Sterling”. It measures 26”, and the links are 1/4” or 4mm wide at the widest point. It weighs 5.6g, and is in excellent condition. The photos are part of the description; please examine them carefully. Thanks! Sh...

These 10kt yellow gold cuff links sport an ivy motif – one of our favorites! Ivy is symbolic of marriage and friendship. The decorated ends measure 3/4” x 1/2”, and the total weight is 3.2g. Unmarked, they test at 10k, and we believe them to be from the Art Nouveau period. In excellent condition, and really sweet. The photos are part of the description so please examine them carefully. This elegant band, with a continuous wheat sheaf pattern (wheat signifies love and charity), comes out of the turn of the last century, according to jewelry historian Christie Romero (RIP). She also told us it was probably made using a process called “die rolling.” It is marked “22ct”, “PLATINUM” (the platinum is under the gold, as you can see in the photos), and the maker’s mark is “B’s”. It is size 5-1/4 plus a little, and it cannot be sized. 5.6 grams. It is in excellent ...

Here is a pair of identical gold pins made from a richly colored yellow gold. They would be an excellent addition to your collection of Victorian jewelry! Measuring 1-1/4” x 1/4”, they say “BEBE” on the front. They test as 9k, weigh 3.0 g, and the findings are signed “VID”. There are tiny flowers and other floral designs at the edges. It looks like the safety-pin findings are old replacements. One of them has 2 brownish stains on the back, otherwise they are in excellent condition. T...

This Masonic-themed spoon is marked STERLING F.A. WHELAN. Both sides of the bowl, the hilt, and the tip are gold washed. It has a lot of Masonic symbolism incorporated into the design. The dates on the spoon handle (1732-1799) are the birth and death dates for George Washington, who was a Mason. We have been told that the spoon is approximately 100 years old. It measures 4-1/8", and weighs 10.9g. There is a tiny shallow scratch in the metal of the bowl, in the upper right corner of photo number ...
