A sassy dragon curled around a large amethyst-colored brilliant (yes, it’s glass) hides the hook that turns this into a watch pin. He has a dark red cabochon eye and a colorless brilliant (both glass)in his mouth. The pin is unmarked and is 1” by ¾” in size. It is vermeil (gold over sterling and has a round hinge and eared clasp, suggesting an age of late 1800s or early 1900s.

Here is a striking pendant out of the Arts & Crafts movement, which is enameled in an intense blue with patches of a much lighter blue. The dropper shades from a pale green through a lighter blue into the intense blue of the main part of the pendant. The back is marked sterling silver, and the dropper is marked silver. It measures 1-3/8 x 1-3/16, and is on a new 18” sterling chain. In very good condition overall. The enamel shows a little bit of wear around the edges, and it’s possible that ...

Here is a fun locket made from white metal. It is engraved on the front in a stylized pattern, and plain on the back. The inside has some scratches in the metal. The photo rings and celluloid are not present. It measures 1-1/4” x 7/8" and the cool paperclip chain is a bit over 22". The back has a few dark marks which might clean up. Generally, a handsome Victorian (or possibly Edwardian) piece. The photos are part of the description; please examine them carefully. Thanks! Shipping, handling & ...

Here is a graceful fairy, made in the Art Nouveau style. While new, she still conveys the design ethos of a bygone era. Oddly, during the Nouveau era – roughly 1890–1915 - very few fairy jewels were made, except some really high-end ones by designers such as Lalique. She is made from 18k yellow gold, and her wings are plique a jour (translucent enamel). The colors shade from pink to almost white, and then into green. Her golden hair is accented by a round brilliant cut diamond, and at her fe...

Gentlemen: this terrific lion is just waiting to take his place on your tie or lapel! Made from unmarked but tested 14kt yellow gold, with tiny red stones for eyes, and a (cultured?) pearl in his jaws, he measures 7/16” x 1/2”. The findings are either a low-carat gold or gold filled. The lion himself weighs 1.5g, and the total weight is 4.1g. He probably began life as a stickpin, circa 1900, and is in excellent condition. The photos are part of the description; please examine them carefull...

Perfect for a wedding (or any occasion at all), here is a very pretty starburst pin/necklace, made from 14k gold (marked and tested), set with seed pearls, and with an old European cut diamond in the center. It has a maker’s mark in the shape of a Maltese cross (we haven’t been able to track down whose mark this is). Measuring 1-1/8”, it weighs 6g. The bail folds down nicely for wearing as a brooch. The 18” chain is gold filled, and not original to the piece. It comes with an antique dar...

The La Pierre Manufacturing Company started in the mid-late 1800s (there are conflicting reports of 1855 to 1895) in Newark NJ where much Art Nouveau sterling silver jewelry and novelties were made. The company later moved to Wallingford, CT. It has been a division of International Silver since 1929. History lesson over! This pin is a sassy Art Nouveau sprite made of sterling silver repousse. It bears the maker's mark for La Pierre Mfg. Co. The detail in the face and wings is impeccable. ...

These gorgeous cuff links are composed of slightly oval rock crystals carved with a seashell-like pattern, intersected by rows of calibre-cut blue sapphires. 18k (tested) white gold backs and links are marked with what appears to be European hallmarks – they are too blurry to decipher beyond that. The rock crystals measure 5/8” x 9/16”, and together they weigh 7.2g. The photos are part of the description; please examine carefully. Thanks! Shipping, handling & insurance within the USA incl...

This beautiful brooch depicts a red poppy in full bloom, with buds and leaves. It was made by the well-known Bippart Griscomb & Osborn company of Newark, New Jersey. Their maker’s mark is stamped on the back, as well as “14k”. Measuring 1” x 1-1/4”, it has the long pin stem often found on antique jewels. There is an interestingly-shaped pearl mounted at the top, and another dangling below. Poppies have symbolized peace, sleep (remember Dorothy crossing the field in The Wizard of Oz?), ...

This Masonic-themed spoon is marked STERLING F.A. WHELAN. Both sides of the bowl, the hilt, and the tip are gold washed. It has lots of Masonic symbolism incorporated into the design. The dates on the spoon handle (1732-1799) are the birth and death dates for George Washington, who was a Mason. We have been told that the spoon is approximately 100 years old. It measures 4-1/8", and weighs 10.9g. There is a tiny shallow scratch in the metal of the bowl, in the upper right corner of photo number 2...

Roses have been symbolic of love and remembrance for centuries, as well as passion, purity, and happiness. This necklace of roses is so elegant! Measuring 17-5/8”, the delicate chain is adorned by 3 roses, each with leaves below. They are spaced by beautifully decorated chain links. The rest of the chain consists of a further 12 fancy links included in the chain. Each fancy link measures 7/16”, and each rose is 3/4” x 5/8”. It weighs 4.2 g. Here is a truly beautiful garland or swag necklace out of the Art Nouveau/Edwardian era. It is pictured in Vivienne Becker’s “Art Nouveau Jewelry” on page 185. She describes it as having “festoons of gold chain in the Edwardian manner, set with peridots, and decorated with shaded satin enamel, c. 1900.” It is unmarked, but tests as 14k gold. It centers an oval peridot, has several small pearls, and an accent diamond; also a dropper ending with another oval peridot (birthstone for Augus...

Here is a beautiful sash buckle, designed for Tiffany by the well-known George Shiebler. The marks are: “Tiffany & Co,” the winged S for Shiebler, “Sterling,” and “4758” (we’re not sure what that means). It is 3” x 2”, with a slight curve to it, and weighs 42.2g/1.49oz. Decorated with a floral motif, it’s beautiful. Geo. W. Shiebler & Co. was in business under that name from 1876 until almost 1915. It came in a Tiffany fabric bag, which may be original to the piece. In excel...

Here is a stick pin made in the shape of an arrow head. This gorgeous piece features a sparkly cognac-colored diamond of approximately 10 points (a tenth of a carat), but it looks bigger. Above and below the diamond are 2 lovely (cultured?) golden pearls. It weighs 2.3g and is of unmarked but tested 14k yellow gold, which has been hammered to enhance the “arrow head” look – a great reminder that the Arts and Crafts era overlapped the Wild Wild West! It measures 1/2” x 7/16” x 2-1/2" lo...

Antique plique a jour (translucent enamel) jewels are very hard to come by these days – they are a bit fragile, rare, and we believe that many of them are now in private collections. This lovely maple leaf pin is highlighted with paste accent stones along the main veins. The green plique is a very nice rich color. It seems to be missing one leaf. However, someone filled the space with a pretty drop made of green agate, so the loss is hardly noticeable. It is centered by a faux pearl. The pliqu...

These elegant 14 k gold earrings are set with five round garnets each. The bezel settings have closed backs. Hidden quality is present here. Just as having elegant detail in a garment to give the wearer an extra feeling of wonderful, these earrings have delicately patterned backs that show only on close inspection. Beautiful! (Picture 3) The earrings are Georgian in age (pre 1837) and are 3/4" long. Gotta love the workmanship!

Here is a classic and simply gorgeous ring – when worn, the liveliness of the stones is riveting! A demantoid (green garnet) from the original mines in the Ural Mountains of Russia that is this big is very rare. This one is slightly oval, has the diagnostic horsetail inclusions, and is of an older cut. Some of the facets are a little abraded, but its beauty is still remarkable, especially since we’ve just had the table facet re-polished. The appraisal states that the estimated total weight i...

This simple yet elegant gold washed lavalier evokes both the Nouveau and the Deco eras with its design. It measures 1-3/8” without the bale, and 1/2” at the widest point. It features 3 dark purple stones, which might be glass – we couldn’t identify them with certainty. The top stone’s facets are somewhat abraded, and there is wear to the metal. Circa 1920. The photos are part of the description, so please examine them with care. Thanks! Shipping, handling & insurance free within the U...
