This fascinating ring consists of strands of rose gold tied in a knot, and studded with gold spheres. One sphere is missing, which makes it interestingly asymmetrical. The decorated area measures 5/8 x 1/2” and the shank measures 3/16”. The ring has a maker’s mark (“J.M”), the anchor for Birmingham, the date mark for 1903-4, “9”, and “375”, however it tests as 10k (That is not unusual). It’s approximately size 7 (it could be sized), and weighs 5.2g. In places the gold looks y...

This maple leave pin consists of plique a jour enamel in a sterling silver setting. This lovely pin is highlighted with paste accent stones along the main leaf veins. The green plique is a very nice rich color. The pin seems to be missing one leaf, however, someone filled in the space with a pretty drop made of green agate, so the loss is hardly noticeable. It is centered by a faux pearl. The enamel itself is in good shape, with only a few hairline cracks - normal in all but the very best pieces...

This sweet little lavalier is centered by a blue sapphire cabochon within an Art Nouveau framework of 14kt yellow gold. Above is a pearl. It was made by the well known Whiteside & Blank company of Newark, NJ, and stamped “14”. When we found it, it was a ring that had been made from a stickpin, so we felt free to remake it into a lavalier (it didn’t work very well as a ring). It measures just under 1 inch from the top of the bail by 1/2” at the widest point. Circa 1900. We have 14kt gold ...

We found this sweet pair of earrings in London, England. Rubies symbolize love and immortality. Pearls symbolize purity and harmony. What a perfect combination for these pretty earrings! They test as 10kt gold, although they are marked 375 for 9kt (this often happens in older jewelry). The hanging flower basket motif is quite charming. They contain a total of 16 rubies and 18 seed pearls. The total length is 1-7/8”, and together they weight 4.3g. As is often the case with older earrings, it’...

Perfect for a bride, bridesmaid, or really anyone wishing for an elegant necklace for any occasion! The whole thing measures 14-5/8” (we have gold necklace extenders if needed). The decorated section measures 1-1/4” x 3/4” including the dangle. It is in very good antique condition. One seed pearl is missing, but it’s really hard to tell -...

This lovely pendant is beautiful, antique, European, and signed by a famous but mysterious maker--can it get any better? The Art Nouveau movement revolutionized art and design in the late 1890s and early 1900s across continents. In Germany, the style was called Jugend Stil—Young Style, and many of the better known jewelry makers congregated in Pforzheim. The company of Meyle and Mayer was well known Jugenstil, Art Nouveau, and Art Deco jewelry, but today it is almost impossible to learn mu...

The typically Art Nouveau curves of this elegant lavalier are set with seed pearls to accent their lavish beauty. The lavalier holds a large central ametyst—February’s birthstone!—and has an amethyst dropper. The delicate bale is set with more pearls. The lavalier is made of 9 ct gold and is 1 1/8" by 1 1/2" plus the bale. Circa 1900. The 14 k gold 16" chain is new.

The front of this locket features a lovely Egyptian girl or woman – or perhaps a goddess! - in profile, wearing a headdress (from which a few locks of hair have escaped – so charming!), and hoop earrings. She is nestled within a crescent moon (symbolic of the female principal, intuition, and new beginnings). Inside it has both photo rings, but no celluloid. That can easily be fixed with plastic, if desired. Unusually large, it measures 1-5/8”, and weighs .77 ounce. It is made of gold over ...

This is one of our very favorite lavaliers! It is quintessential Art Nouveau. It depicts a flower with an amethyst at its center, with the classic whiplash motif. The central amethyst weighs approximately 1/2 carat, and it’s accented by 28 seed pearls. Feng Shui practitioners believe amethysts aid in purification, and give access to a higher plane of energy. It tests as 14k, and the gold is that lovely subtle old gold color. It weighs 3.3g and measures 1” x 1” at the widest points. Chain ...

This yellow gold double-cluster ring is composed of a cluster of rubies centered by a diamond, and a cluster of pearls centered by a ruby. In the center of each is a 6-pointed star motif in gold. Pearl is the birthstone for June, ruby is the birthstone for July. The ring is hallmarked for Birmingham, England, 15 karat gold (“15ct”), a date mark for 1877, and a maker’s mark for “P&E”. Size 7-1/2. One of the pearls may be a replacement, and one pearl prong is missing. Someone used tiny a...

This plique a jour pendant is centered with an oval white opal and accented with eight colorless brilliants. The dropper is a fresh water pearl. The translucent enamel is an unusual and lovely blue in color. Plique a jour, that unusual, difficult, and beautiful technique, dates from the 15th century. It was used by Cellini, then revived in the late 1800s in France. The metal frame in this lovely piece is 900 silver, suggesting that the piece is most likely German or Austrian in origin. Circa ...

This pretty lavalier/pendant is enameled on both sides - unusual for Arts & Crafts pieces. The front has a central panel in a beautiful peacock blue, and 2 outer panels in the shape of stylized hearts, in a darker blue. The back is sky-blue (a little worn at a few of the high points). There is a freshwater pearl drop. It weighs 2.1g and measures 1-5/8” from the top of the bail to the bottom of the pearl. It comes on a sterling chain (stamped “STERLING”) which is probably modern. In good bu...

This pretty ring consists of a flower made of six pearl “petals” (one of which is a replacement), centered by a tiny rose cut diamond. There is a compartment underneath, perhaps for storing a lock of hair, but no glass. The ring tests as a very strong 14kt, so it is probably 15kt (and therefore English). Cobalt blue enamel decorates the shoulders, which we’ve had touched up – this ring was obviously very well loved, and it’s still beautiful! Size 6. Early Victorian or late Georgian. We...

This sweet lady is made of 18kt (tested) yellow gold. Sprinkled with 8 tiny diamonds (the birthstone for April), and with her hair swept up into a bun with whispy tendrils of hair around her ears, she is so charming! She measures 1” x 1” at the widest points, and weighs 2.5g. The gold is a little worn at the high points, and we had the jump ring strengthened, as it was worn very thin – someone clearly loved this piece a lot! On the back, it looks as though a groove was made for testing the...

This handsome case, highlighted by black niello enamel, could be used for various things, including business cards. It has a flower motif on both sides, and space for a monogram on one side, should you wish it. It is marked (and tests as) sterling silver. It measures 3-7/8 x 2-15/16”, and weighs in at 4.92 ounces. In excellent condition. The elastic may be a replacement. We believe this case is pre-1920, but would welcome other opinions. The photos are part of the description, so please examin...

This beautiful pendant is straight out of the Arts & Crafts movement; it’s very much in the style of Horner, but it’s unsigned. It is enameled in an intense blue with areas of a much lighter blue. The dropper shades from a pale green through a lighter blue into an intense blue, echoing the color of the main part of the pendant. The back is marked “sterling silver”, and the dropper is marked “silver”. It measures 1-3/8 x 1-3/16, and is on a modern 18” sterling chain. In very good co...

This beautifully detailed sash buckle was designed for Tiffany by the well-known and highly collectible George Shiebler. The marks are: “Tiffany & Co,” the winged S for Shiebler, “Sterling,” and “4758” (we’re not sure what that means). It is 3” x 2”, with a slight curve to it, and weighs 42.2g/1.49oz. Decorated with a floral motif, it’s a classic beauty. Geo. W. Shiebler & Co. was in business under that name from 1876 until almost 1915. The buckle came in a Tiffany fabric bag...
