Here is a petit pin which has a lotus or water lily motif highlighted by a tiny seed pearl. (The lotus is a symbol of purity and enlightenment, especially to Buddhists.) It is unmarked but tests as 10kt gold. It measures 1-1/8”, and weighs in at 0.04 oz. It would look lovely on a lapel or blouse. Circa 1900. The photos are part of the description; please examine them carefully. Thanks! Shipping, handling & insurance within the USA included.

Here is a classic Victorian pin/pendant, with a pinwheel motif, with 9 lovely bright dark purple garnet and glass doublets (from the period when amethysts were quite rare and expensive, so they made these doublets out of comparatively inexpensive material), and lots of seed pearls. It has both a pin stem assembly for use as a brooch, and a jump ring so it can be worn as a necklace. It is stamped 10k on the clasp. There is a small break in the gold framework, which isn’t noticeable without magn...

Here is a beautiful pin which is an interesting mixture of the Art Nouveau and Victorian styles. The Victorians loved to use real insects, especially these green beetles, in jewelry. The Nouveau jewelers loved naturalistic motifs, but generally didn’t use the insect itself – yet the design of the pin is very Nouveau. Marked 14k, the pale gold setting contrasts nicely with the deep green of the beetle. The pin stem assembly is original. The clasp has a nice safety lever; it is bent a tiny bit...

Here is an interesting beetle stick pin. Perfect for your lapel, the beetle is in very good condition (though the pin is slightly bent), and is set in unmarked but tested 14k rose gold. The beetle itself is 9/16” x 7/16” at the widest points, and is held firmly in place by 4 prongs. The whole thing is 2-3/4” long. The Victorians loved to use organic things in their jewelry, including real beetles. This particular type seems to have been a favorite. They are very collectible! Late Victorian...

Here is a pendant featuring a large amethyst, measuring about 10mm across. It is set in a framework of bright gold leaves that brings to mind the Arts and Crafts era, with another leaf on the bale, and a fringe of tiny seed pearls dangling below – sweet! From the top of the bale to the bottom of the fringe it measures 1-1/2”, and from side to side it is 3/4” at the widest points. It is marked and tested 14k gold and weighs 1.8g. We believe it was made during the 1960s, but we’re not sur...

The setting measures 9/16” x 1/2” and the whole thing is 2-11/16” long and weighs 2.7g. Circa 1900. In excellent condition. Here is a really pretty stickpin featuring a bright green tourmaline (said to aid in self confidence and compassion). It is surrounded by a gold Nouveau framework, with a rose below. A little white pearl completes it. It is marked 14k, with an illegible maker’s mark. It measures 1/2” x 5/8" and the whole thing is 2-1/2" long. It weighs 2.9g including the gold-filled clutch. In excellent condition and C. 1900. The Tudor rose is a combination of the red rose of Lancaster and the white r...

Here is a classic jewel consisting of a circle of gold enameled in deep blue, with gold highlights. Through it is tied a 3-looped bow, decorated with tiny seed pearls, as are the bail and drop. There are a couple very minor flaws in the enamel that are not visible without magnification. It is stamped 15kt gold, and the gold has that lovely rich color we don't see any more. There is a place on the back where it looks as though someone made a repair, but of course this is not visible when worn. Th...

Here is an English pin featuring a large peridot (1 cm x 6 mm or 3/8” x 2/8”), and, on either side, seed pearl-set gold shamrocks. Flanking those are 3 green garnets (demantoids) per side, plus 1 above and 1 below the peridot. Peridot symbolizes spring and youthfulness, and it is said to bring wealth and health. On either side is an Art Nouveau whiplash of gold with more pearls. Stamped 15ct. The brooch weighs 5.1 g and measures 1-9/16” x 5/8”. Three of the tiny seed pearls are missing, ...

Here is a very pretty 15kt yellow gold double-cluster ring: a cluster of pearls centered by a ruby, and a cluster of rubies centered by a diamond. In the center of each is a star motif (Star of David, perhaps?) in gold. Ruby is the birthstone for July. The ring is hallmarked for Birmingham, England and 15 karat gold, and a date mark for 1877, and also a maker’s mark for “P&E”. Size 7-1/2. One of the pearls may be a replacement, and one pearl prong is missing. Someone used tiny amounts of g...

Here is a very Victorian grooming chatelaine from the 1800s. It has a Chinese fish motif at the top, and dangling from that are 3 implements: a tweezers, an ear-cleaning device, and a third implement for cleaning nails. (We saw a similar chatelaine on eBay, and the ear-cleaning implement was advertised as a device for opium users, but we don’t think so! But as non-opium users, we could be wrong ….) It is unmarked but tests positive for silver, and with a patina consistent with age. It is la...

Here is a sweet little pendant or charm made by Jean-Baptiste-Emile Dropsy, one of the famous French medalists. The design was usually made out of a heavy gold plate, but this one is 18kt rosy gold. Signed by Dropsy on the front, as is usual with French medals, it measures 1/2” in diameter (with the jump ring, 7/8”), and weighs 1.5g. In excellent condition, showing a gentle patina, and circa 1900. The photos are part of the description; please examine them carefully. Thanks! We do lay-away...

Here is a brush made by the well-known Gorham Manufacturing Company. The design looks like the top of an antique steamer chest, with a strapping and stud motif – very Steampunk. The top is monogrammed with a fancy "R". It has the Gorham marks, as well as “1857 C”, “Sterling,” and the scissors mark for 1907. It measures 6” x 1-3/4" across the top, and is in very good condition. Photo note: the bristles are an ivory color, but don’t show up that way in the photos. The photos are pa...

Here is a simple and elegant stickpin with a stylized flower design, based on a Japanese family crest. It is marked “k20” on the back, and tests as a very strong 20kt. The flower head measures 1/2 x 7/8”, and the whole pin is 2-1/2” long. It weighs 2.4g. The pin is a bit bent, not surprisingly given the high gold content (please see photos), and course that can’t be seen when it’s worn. Otherwise in excellent condition. Circa 1900. Japanese art had a huge influence on the Art Nouveau...

Here is a very elegant band, with a continuous wheat sheaf pattern (wheat signifies love and charity). It was made at the turn of the last century, according to jewelry historian Christie Romero (RIP). She also told us it was probably made using a process called “die rolling.” It is marked “22ct”, “PLATINUM” (the platinum is under the gold, as you can see in the photos), and the maker’s mark is “B’s”. It is size 5-1/4 plus a little, and it cannot be sized. 5.6 grams. It is i...

There are padlocks, puffy hearts, plain and flowered hearts--it's a lovely collection. There is a maker's mark for GJ Ltd on the bracelet. The bracelet dates from the 1950s.
