This little dragon will be a fierce defender as he graces your lapel. He is made of 14 k gold and holds a diamond in his mouth. The pin is 2 ¼" long and has a maker's mark for Alling & Company of Newark, NJ. As did many companies of the era, the company changed ownership, leadership, and name over the years. Starting on or before 1837, Alling, Hall & Dodd eventually became Alling & Company before 1896. Keywords gold, , diamond, Art Nouveau Category Estate Jewelry:Gold:Art Nouveau...

The coin tests as silver, probably sterling (it can be hard to tell). On one side is the face of Friedrich (presumably) and his wife, a Maltese cross, and the words “FRIEDRICH * I * 1701 * WILHELM * II * 1901”, on the other side is an eagle with a crown above, and “DEUTSCHES REICH 1901 ZWEI MARK”. The rest is white metal. The swivel clasp has a mark, which looks like a plow. We haven’t been able to track it down. The coin and split ring weigh approximately .40oz, and the whole thing .9...

Here is a pin made by Hermann & Speck, well-known jewelers of Pforzheim in Germany. It is centered by a blue sapphire, and there is a pearl dangle. It is marked 333 for 8kt gold (that was a new one for us!) but when we tested it, it held for 10k. It is also marked “Depose,” which translates roughly as “patent.” It measures 1-7/16” x 1" including the pearl dangle, and weighs 2.5g. In excellent condition, and circa 1900. The photos are part of the description; please examine them carefu...

Here is a sweet brooch or pin in the shape of a bow, made from blue and turquoise plique a jour with twisted wire work running through it. (The colors in the photographs may be deceptive, depending on your computer monitor). The (translucent) enamel over the wire spirals is turquoise, and the rest is a medium blue. Measuring 1-1/4” x 7/8", it weighs 3.1g. On the back it is marked with “800”, and an illegible (maker’s?) mark. We believe it is Italian. The silver on the front has a gold wa...

Here is a classic Art Nouveau stick pin centered by an amethyst, birthstone for February. Back in the day, amethysts were thought to prevent drunkenness, as well as being a cure for headaches (is there a theme here?). There is a seed pearl above and one below, all mounted in a (marked and tested) 14k “whiplash” frame (the whiplash motif was very popular with Nouveau artists). Measuring 1/2” x 2-1/4" long, it weighs 1.5g. There is an illegible maker’s mark. The pin is curved, but could be...

Tiny and charming. The pin is made of 800 silver, enameled on both front and back, and centered with a square-cut peridot. The pin is 3/4" in diameter. Enamel is slightly worn on the front, but is in better condition on the back. There is a small chip in the stone. Enough negativity! It's a lovely pin! It is marked with the dog's head quality mark that shows it is 800 silver, made between 1872 & 1922 in Austro-Hungary and an A for the maker.

Ladies, you can do the same, or hang a locket or charm on it! Each link, which looks like a little book – hence the name - has a pattern stamped or engraved into it. Some links show some wear consistent with age. It weighs 17.1g and is quite charming! The photos are a part of the description. Pleas...

This beautiful ethnic Turkomann ring is silver, and is set with a carved lapis lazuli. The lapis is surrounded by an intricate enameled border. It is 3/4" across the top, and is a size 8 1/2. The age uncertain, but it definitely predates 1980. The Metropolitan Museum of Art has a good article on ethnic Turkmen jewelry. Rather than plagiarize, I'm including the link. :-) https://www.metmuseum.org/toah/hd/turk/hd_tu
