Here is an unusual sterling silver and enamel pendant, which comes out of the Arts & Crafts movement, spearheaded by William Morris, John Ruskin, et al. The enamel colors are associated with the women’s suffrage movement in the UK: green (Give), white (Women the), and violet (Vote) – or at least, that’s the story! The free-standing wire work (so unusual!) interlaces around the body of the piece, and holds an oval of mother-of-pearl in place. Also unusual is the use of brown enamel. There i...

A pretty necklace to liven any outfit! The bright turquoise in this lovely lavalier would be a bright accent for any outfit. The turquoise is an oval cabochon, and it is surrounded by gold 'ribbons' set with seed pearls. The use of 9 ct gold suggests an English origin but it is not hallmarked. It is is signed with the maker's mark SB & SLD in rounded rectangular lozenges. The lavalier comes with a 16" gold filled chain and is 1 1/4" X 1". Circa 1900.

The setting measures 13/16” x 1/2", and the whole thing 2-3/8". The pin has a little bit of a bend to it toward the top, not visible when it’s worn, otherwise in excellent antique condition. This pin is 14k gold and holds a coral branch. It is Victorian in age and has maker's mark, BML. The pin is 2" X 1/2". Circa 1860. Coral has been used in jewelry for thousands of years. It has been called Sea Garden because of its resemblance to a plant. Coral is used as protection from negativity and evil, and to dispel feelings of inner weakness.

The design of this piece is delightful and over the top! It is an Egyptian Revival piece, centering Hathor (goddess of dance, music, and fertility – we love her!). She is wearing big earrings, and her usual headdress. She seems to have a flower in her hair, and in front of her there is greenery tied by a ribbon with a bow (we can’t tell if it’s laurel or mistletoe). The ink pots (glass inserts are not present) have winged hearts on them, and are surmounted by crescent moons – symbols fro...

This pretty pin is so Art Nouveau! A lady’s face is surrounded by ribbons and flourishes, some set with seed pearls. It is gold filled, and measures 1-1/8” x 7/8”. Her nose and chin show some wear, and it has a patina consistent with age. The pin stem assembly is mounted in a somewhat unusual fashion – please see photos. Circa 1900. The photos are part of the description; please examine them carefully. Thanks! Shipping, handling & insurance within the USA is included.

Here is one of our favorite lockets! The front has a beautiful Egyptian woman or girl – or perhaps goddess - in profile, wearing a headdress (from which a few locks of hair have escaped), and hoop earrings. She is nestled within a crescent moon (symbolic of the female principal, intuition, and new beginnings). The back has a monogram, and inside it has both photo rings, but no celluloid. That can easily be fixed with plastic. Unusually large, it measures 1-5/8”, and weighs .77 ounce. It is m...

Here is a lovely jewel featuring a circle of 6 ginkgo leaves radiating out from a diamond center, with rows of seed pearls in between. The enamel is lovely, detailed, and subtle. It is both a pendant and a brooch. The bale is on a swivel; it folds down neatly so that it’s invisible when worn as a brooch. Unmarked but tested 14k rose gold, about 33 pearls, and an approximately .02 full cut old diamond, very slightly chipped (not visible without magnification). The piece measures 1-1/16” in di...

Here is a beautiful ring which is unsigned, but attributed to Bernard Instone, one of the well-known Arts & Crafts era jewelers. He often used leaves-as-prongs in his ring settings, and as was often the way in the A&C movement, he didn’t use costly stones nor gold, so he could keep his prices affordable. This ring is made from sterling silver and set with a blue-green “Swiss lapis” (dyed quartz) which measures approximately 3/4” x 9/16”. It is about size 5-1/2, however due to the cons...

Here is a sky-blue enamel pendant with a blue enameled dropper. It tests as silver, most likely sterling. It has two shades of light blue enamel on the front, highlighted by flourishes in silver. The dropper is also enameled in shaded hues of blue. The enamel continues on the back in sky blue – such great attention to detail! Excluding the bale, it is 1-1/2” long by just under 3/4” across. There are two tiny areas of enamel damage on the back, and a few areas that could use some cleaning ...

Emeralds (birthstone for May) have been thought to preserve love and bring wisdom. These sweet bright green emerald earrings are unmarked, but the gold tests as 14kt. They are 13/16” long, and the buttercup settings measure 1/2” across. The stones measure 5-1/2mm across. I believe the ear wires used to have hooks to slip into, but those are gone and the stubs smoothed over for comfort. One of the emeralds is chipped in the back, but both stones face up well. The gold shows a nice patina and ...

Here is a very elegant band, with a continuous wheat sheaf pattern (wheat signifies love and charity). It was made at the turn of the last century, according to jewelry historian Christie Romero (RIP). She also told us it was probably made using a process called “die rolling.” It is marked “22ct”, “PLATINUM” (the platinum is under the gold, as you can see in the photos), and the maker’s mark is “B’s”. It is size 5-1/4 plus a little, and it cannot be sized. 5.6 grams. It is i...

This very Victorian pin is gold fill set with two rose-cut red pastes and one cabochon ‘turquoise’. The pin is 1 ¼" wide with a central ball element that is 3/8" in diameter. Applied circles of wire rope ornament a vertical, rectangular bar. A hollow ball dangles from two chains; another chain connects the pin to the stickpin. This device preceded the safety catch to prevent loss of the pin. The C hinge and double C catch are replacements. The pin bears a Maker's mark OB, which ...
