A lovely bright focus for an outfit is this Art Nouveau lavalier set with an oval turquoise cabochon. The gold 'ribbons' around it are set with seed pearls. The 9 ct gold suggests an English origin. The lavalier is signed with the maker's marks SB & SLD in rounded rectangular lozenges. The lavalier comes with a 16" gold filled chain and is 1 1/4" X 1". Circa 1900.

This sparkly stunner has 2 big paste stones (7/16”), 2 smaller ones (1/4”), and 8 small accent stones (there should be 9. One is missing, but it’s really hard to tell), set in white metal. The whole thing measures 2” x 9/16”. Stamped “Czechoslov” on the back, it is in overall good condition: the stones have a couple chips, and a little abrasion, but the stones are so sparkly it’s hard to spot these. The clasp is bent over a bit, but still works just fine. We believe it’s circa ...

Here is a graceful fairy, made in the Art Nouveau style. While new, she still conveys the design ethos of a bygone era. Oddly, during the Nouveau era – roughly 1890–1915 - very few fairy jewels were made, except some very high-end ones by designers such as Lalique. She is made from 18k yellow gold, and her wings are plique a jour (translucent enamel). The colors shade from pink to almost white, and then into green. Her golden hair is accented by a round brilliant cut diamond, and at her feet...

We love this necklace! It features a central silver panel with a big labradorite cab, 3/4” x 9/16”. The whole panel with dangles measures 13/16” x 1-7/8”. The wearable length is 24”, and there are 20” worth of labradorite beads, most having the distinctive blue flash for which that stone is known. The clasp has a very pretty leaf and flower design, and it’s stamped 925 on the back. The beads are on knotted string, and there are 4 (untested) silver beads. The whole thing weighs 29.5...

This brooch combines the styles of Edwardian and Art Nouveau jewelry, and is remarkably similar to a couple of pieces by Whiteside & Blank that we’ve seen with the W&B maker’s mark; however it is unsigned (not unusual for the time). The pin consists of a framework enameled in palest green (almost white), in a formal Edwardian key pattern. In the middle is a sprig of leaves with a pearl berry; the stem twines around the framework in the Nouveau style. An interesting juxtaposition. There are ...

This pretty ring is composed of 7 amethysts, birthstone for February (and in legend, thought to guard against poison) and on either side of the cluster, a bezel-set accent diamond and one tiny half seed pearl. The ring is approximately size 6.5, and would be easy to re-size. It is marked 10K and signed “ECI”. In excellent condition, with just a bit of patina. The gold is yellow, despite looking rosy in the photos. The photos are part of the description; please examine them carefully. We do ...

Here is an engaging portrait in silver, of a wind-swept young-looking person in a cloak and hood. It’s very detailed and just lovely. We think it’s a boy (very unusual in jewelry), as the hair seems to be quite short under the hood. The hood itself looks like a cap made from a flower, as seen on fairies in Victorian children’s books. It measures 1-1/8” wide, is hollow, and is marked “STERLING TOP GERMAN SILVER BACK”. The (sterling) front is in very good condition. German silver is a...

Here is a very pretty pin featuring an oval purple cabochon, possibly glass, possibly amethyst (it’s hard to get a reading on this stone), centered between two hammered silver leaves (very A&C), all on a very Art Nouveau framework. Marked “DEPOS” (probably meant to say “DEPOSE”, which translates roughly as “patented”), it is probably from Germany. There are two illegible marks, one on the C-clasp, and one on the back. It tests as silver, measures 1-3/4” x 3/4", and weighs 4.4 g....

This spirited fixe gryphon clutches a protective shield with clawed feet. His tail curls through the fanciful edges of the shield. Altogether a delightful companion to ornament a jacket or other garment. The trombone catch is a replacement but the old-style tube hinge is original. The 1 1/2" X 1 1/2" pin is marked FIX and is Art Nouveau in age, circa 1900.

Here is a fun locket made from white metal. It is engraved on the front in a stylized pattern, and plain on the back. The inside has some scratches in the metal. The photo rings and celluloid are not present. It measures 1-1/4” x 7/8" and the cool paperclip chain is a bit over 22". The back has a few dark marks which might clean up. Generally, a handsome Victorian (or possibly Edwardian) piece. The photos are part of the description; please examine them carefully. Thanks! Shipping, handling & ...

Here is an English pin featuring a large peridot (1 cm x 6 mm or 3/8” x 2/8”), and, on either side, pearl-set gold shamrocks. Flanking those are 3 green garnets (demantoids) per side, plus 1 above and 1 below the peridot. Peridot symbolizes spring and youthfulness, and it is said to bring wealth and health. On either side is an Art Nouveau whiplash of gold with more pearls. Stamped 15ct. The brooch weighs 5.1 g and measures 1-9/16” x 5/8”. Three of the tiny seed pearls are missing, but t...

He holds an Old English cut diamond in his beak The pin is 1 3/8” X 1 ¼”. It has an early-style safety catch; the hinge is a replacement. Here is a pretty lady, made of unmarked but tested 18k yellow gold. Spangled with 8 tiny diamonds (the birthstone for April), and with her hair swept up into a bun with whispy tendrils of hair around her ears, she is quite charming! She measures 1” x 1”, and weighs 2.5g. The gold is a little worn at the high points, and we had the jump ring strengthened, as it was worn very thin – someone clearly loved it a lot! On the back, it looks as though someone made a small groove for testing the go...

Some marriages are made in Heaven, and this is one. This brooch is a marriage of three Victorian pieces: the bar pin with six diamonds, the enamel bow, and the heart-shaped enamel slide. The bow and slide must once have been part of the same piece. The pin is 12 k gold, and the bow and slide 18 k. The bar pin is 1 3/4" long. This piece is stunning.

The center diamond has an estimate size of 0.5 carat and a clarity of VS1. The small diamonds are ~2.5 points each. Total estimated diamond weight for the ring is 1.15 carats. Here is a classic and simply gorgeous ring – when worn, the liveliness of the stones is riveting! A demantoid (green garnet) from the original mines in the Ural Mountains of Russia that is this big is very rare. This one is slightly oval, has the diagnostic horsetail inclusions, and is of an older cut. Some of the facets are a little abraded, but its beauty is still remarkable, especially since we’ve just had the table facet re-polished. The appraisal states that the estimated total weight i...
