Here is a Victorian style ring with a Gothic design sensibility. The elaborate prongs set off the large iolite (approx. 2 ct.) very nicely, and there are 4 small single cut accent diamonds. The setting measures 7/8” north to south, and 3/4” east to west. Approximately size 8-1/2. It is marked 14k, the setting is rose gold and the shank is yellow gold. The stones are in excellent condition. The photos are part of the description; please examine them carefully. Thanks! We do lay-away. Shippi...

Here is a 9kt yellow gold necklace which is centered by a dark red garnet, probably a spessartite. Garnets are the birthstone for January, and were traditionally thought to keep travelers safe. The dangle is set with a blister pearl of a mellow off-white color. There are 3 tiny seed pearls in the main setting. It is hallmarked “9ct”, and the attached chain is marked “375 9k.” The pendant measures 1-5/16" x 7/8", and the total length of the chain with the pendant is 16-3/4". The piece is ...

This beautifully simple stickpin is the perfect way to set off an elegant suit. The large agate cabochon is bezel set in 18 k gold and is a wonderful swirl on golden colors. The stone is 5/8" top to bottom and the overall length of the pin is 2 7/8". The age is uncertain, but the beauty is timeless.

Tiny and charming. The pin is made of 800 silver, enameled on both front and back, and centered with a square-cut peridot. The pin is 3/4" in diameter. Enamel is slightly worn on the front, but is in better condition on the back. There is a small chip in the stone. Enough negativity! It's a lovely pin! It is marked with the dog's head quality mark that shows it is 800 silver, made between 1872 & 1922 in Austro-Hungary and an A for the maker.

A charming crescent pin that is very Victorian, with a seed pearl crescent supporting two seed pearl studded hearts. The hallmark is incomplete; the marks for Birmingham and England are present, along with an unidentified mark. There is no date stamp. The 2" wide pin appears to be circa 1890 and it is 14 k gold.

Here is an interesting beetle stick pin. Perfect for your lapel, the beetle is in very good condition (though the pin is slightly bent), and is set in unmarked but tested 14k rose gold. The beetle itself is 9/16” x 7/16” at the widest points, and is held firmly in place by 4 prongs. The whole thing is 2-3/4” long. The Victorians loved to use organic things in their jewelry, including real beetles. This particular type seems to have been a favorite. They are very collectible! Late Victorian...

Here is a beautiful gold necklace from France, highlighting roses. Roses have been symbolic of love and remembrance for centuries, as well as passion, purity, and happiness. Lovely for Valentine’s Day, or any other! This necklace is so elegant! Measuring 17-5/8”, the delicate chain is adorned with 3 roses, each with leaves below. The rest of the chain consists of a further 12 fancy links. Each fancy link measures 7/16”, and each rose is 3/4” x 5/8”. It weighs 4.2 g. Very feminine, with...

This plique a jour pendant is centered with an oval opal and accented with eight colorless brilliants and a fresh water pearl dropper. The translucent enamel is an unusual and lovely blue in color. Plique a jour, that unusual, difficult, and beautiful technique, dates from the 15th century. It was used by Cellini, then revived in the late 1800s in France. The metal frame in this lovely piece is 900 silver, suggesting that the piece is most likely German or Austrian in origin. Circa 1900.

Here is a fascinating ring consisting of strands of rose gold tied in a knot, and studded with gold balls. One ball is missing, which makes it pleasantly asymmetrical (it took us a while to realize that it wasn’t actually made that way!). The decorated area measures 5/8 x 1/2” and the shank measures 3/16”. The ring has a maker’s mark (“J.M”), the anchor for Birmingham, the date mark for 1903-4, “9”, and “375”, however it tests as 10k (not unusual). It’s approximately size 7...

Here is a pretty ring, composed of 7 amethysts, birthstone for February (and in legend, thought to guard against poison) and on either side of the cluster, a bezel-set accent diamond and one tiny half seed pearl. The ring is approximately size 6.5, and would be easy to re-size. It is marked 10K and signed “ECI”. In excellent condition, with just a bit of patina. The gold is yellow, despite looking rosy in the photos. The photos are part of the description; please examine them carefully. We ...

Here is a beautiful necklace featuring 2 large and lovely grass-green peridots. The central stone is cushion cut, and the dangle is pear-shaped. It is decorated with a total of 28 seed pearls of colors that vary a little, as is usual, set into leaves & vine-like gold ribbons. It is marked 14k on one leaf and on the spring ring. In excellent condition. The decorative panels measure 3-1/2" x 1", and the whole thing measures 15-1/4" total (we have gold necklace extenders available if you need more ...

This very Victorian pin is gold fill set with two rose-cut red pastes and one cabochon ‘turquoise’. The pin is 1 ¼" wide with a central ball element that is 3/8" in diameter. Applied circles of wire rope ornament a vertical, rectangular bar. A hollow ball dangles from two chains; another chain connects the pin to the stickpin. This device preceded the safety catch to prevent loss of the pin. The C hinge and double C catch are replacements. The pin bears a Maker's mark OB, which ...

This sparkly stunner has 2 big paste stones (7/16”), 2 smaller ones (1/4”), and 8 small accent stones (there should be 9. One is missing, but it’s really hard to tell), set in white metal. The whole thing measures 2” x 9/16”. Stamped “Czechoslov” on the back, it is in overall good condition: the stones have a couple chips, and a little abrasion, but the stones are so sparkly it’s hard to spot these. The clasp is bent over a bit, but still works just fine. Circa 1920. The photos ...

Here is a sash buckle composed of swirling flowers, leaves, and a flower bud. It’s a mixed-metal piece. The silver plate shows some wear - yellow metal shows through at some of the high points. We believe the gold to be about 9kt, and it’s some type of plating. The buckle measures 3 x 2-1/2" and weighs in at 47.5 grams. Unmarked. In overall very good condition, except for the few worn spots already mentioned; the gold might be a little worn in a few places too – it’s difficult to tell be...

A visit to Maisel’s Trading Post was de rigueur for tourists visiting New Mexico before the store closed in the late 1960s after Mr. Maisel’s death. (It was later reopened in 1980 by a grandson, but closed again in 2019.) Tourists flocked to the store, which featured an open lower-level gallery where Native American artists crafted the jewelry and artifacts sold above. Maisel’s was a splendid entertainment and a source of excellent jewelry. This pendant and bracelet were purchased there...

Here is a graceful fairy, made in the Art Nouveau style. While new, she still conveys the design ethos of a bygone era. Oddly, during the Nouveau era – roughly 1890–1915 - very few fairy jewels were made, except some very high-end ones by designers such as Lalique. She is made from 18k yellow gold, and her wings are plique a jour (translucent enamel). The colors shade from pink to almost white, and then into green. Her golden hair is accented by a round brilliant cut diamond, and at her feet...
