Here is a lovely pendant/pin with a stylized floral motif using enamel which shades from green-to-yellow in a design reminiscent of a French fleur-de-lis. It is centered by a small diamond (approx. 5 points), and has a pearl-set modified starburst accenting the enameled “petals.” In 14k rose gold, it measures 1” in diameter at the widest point. The bale folds down nicely when it’s worn as a brooch...

A sassy dragon curled around a large amethyst-colored brilliant (yes, it’s glass) hides the hook that turns this into a watch pin. He has a dark red cabochon eye (probably glass) and a colorless brilliant in his mouth. It is unmarked and is 1” by ¾” in size. The pin is vermeil (gold over sterling). It has a round hinge and eared clasp, suggesting an age of late 1800s or early 1900s.

A charming crescent pin that is very Victorian, with a seed pearl crescent supporting two seed pearl studded hearts. The hallmark is incomplete; the marks for Birmingham and England are present, along with an unidentified mark. There is no date stamp. The 2" wide pin appears to be circa 1890 and it is 14 k gold.

Here is a lovely pair of white gold-fronted double cuff links – they could have been worn by The Great Gatsby himself! Each end is marked BELAIS 14k W.G. FRONT, and is a rectangle measuring 5/8 x 1/2”, with rigid connectors, hinged at one end. There is space for a monogram, should you wish it. They weigh a total of 5g. Belais Brothers were among the first to develop a formula for white gold (patented in 1917)...

Here is a beautiful ring in unmarked but tested 18kt rose gold. The center stone is a ruby cut in an older style, but in really excellent condition. (It’s possible that it’s a replacement stone.) It is surrounded by 8 rose cut and more randomly-cut diamonds which are definitely original, and which might be foiled, but in any case are in a closed-back setting. Typically for the period, a couple of them are chipped or have feathers (inclusions). It is unmarked and has a nice patina...

Here is a striking lavalier which is centered by a light purple amethyst (traditionally good for maintaining clarity of mind), framed by rose gold panels which are both Art Nouveau and Arts & Crafts in style. It has a pearl dangle with good luster which is interestingly off-round. Measuring 1-5/8” including the pearl but not the jump ring, by 7/8”. The amethyst measures 3/8” x 1/4”. It is marked “9ct” but tests as 10k (this is not unusual)...

Here is an unusual sterling silver and enamel pendant, which comes out of the Arts & Crafts movement, spearheaded by William Morris, John Ruskin, et al. The enamel colors are associated with the women’s suffrage movement in the UK: green (Give), white (Women the), and violet (Vote) – or at least, that’s the story! The free-standing wire work (so unusual!) interlaces around the body of the piece, and holds an oval of mother-of-pearl in place. Also unusual is the use of brown enamel...

This beautiful stickpin is made of 14 k white gold and is set with an unidentified colorless gemstone...not diamond or one of the common substitutes for diamond. Not glass or plastic--it's a real stone. Also a real mystery. Whatever it is, it's a perfect complement to the setting. Overall length is 2 3/8" and it dates from the early 1900s.

The flowing, sinuous lines of this unusual and lovely 10 k gold barrette are SO Art Nouveau. This barrette is sure to attract admiring attention. It has a maker's mark which looks like the K used by Kohn & Company, a Newark, NJ manufacturer of gold jewelry. The company used the K mark in 1922 and 1931 advertisements.

Here is a pin with an ancient Celtic design: two birds with enameled wings, bodies and eyes, with interlaced (also called “entrelac”) silver above and below. The enamel is in red, blue, green, and white. It is marked 925 for sterling silver, and has several other marks which are illegible. 1-1/2” X 1-1/4”. Here is a wonderful bracelet by Schaverien & Eastmead of Birmingham, England. It is 7” long and 3/8” wide at the widest points, with 5 enameled panels shading from dark green to pale green to magenta and back again. In between each panel is a round blister pearl. Each connecting link has a hard-to-read mark, probably a lion, also the marks for Birmingham, 1909, and “S&E”. The clasp has a safety chain...

Here is a classic cigar band or “gypsy” ring, made from rich yellow 18kt gold. The center stone is a diamond, the outer two stones are rubies. It has decorative scroll work on the shoulders. The hallmarks are for Chester, 1903, and there is a maker’s mark that we can’t read. It weighs 4.0g, and is approximately size 5. The shank is a little off round, and it’s possible that it was sized at some time, however it is in excellent condition...

Here is a classic and simply gorgeous ring – when worn, the liveliness of the stones is riveting! A demantoid from the original mines in the Ural Mountains of Russia this big is very rare. This one is slightly oval, has the diagnostic horsetail inclusions, and is of an older cut. Some of the facets are a little abraded, but its beauty is still remarkable, especially since we had the table facet re-polished. The appraisal states that the estimated total weight of the demantoid is 1 carat, but i...

This pin is 14k gold and holds a coral branch. It is Victorian in age and has maker's mark, BML. The pin is 2" X 1/2". Circa 1860. Coral has been used in jewelry for thousands of years. It has been called Sea Garden because of its resemblance to a plant. Coral is used as protection from negativity and evil, and to dispel feelings of inner weakness.
