Here is a striking pendant out of the Arts & Crafts movement, which is enameled in an intense blue with patches of a much lighter blue. The dropper shades from a pale green through a lighter blue into the intense blue of the main part of the pendant. The back is marked sterling silver, and the dropper is marked silver. It measures 1-3/8 x 1-3/16, and is on a new 18” sterling chain. In very good condition overall...

Here is a very sweet ring, consisting of a flower made of 6 pearls (1 of which is a replacement), centered by a tiny rose cut diamond. There is a compartment underneath, perhaps for storing a tiny lock of hair, but the glass is gone. The ring tests as a very strong 14kt, so it is probably 15kt (and might be English). Cobalt blue enamel decorates the shoulders, which we’ve had touched up – this ring was obviously very well loved, and it’s still beautiful! Size 6. Early Victorian...

Here is a pin in the style of Murrle, Bennett and Archibald Knox. This lovely brooch features a heart interlaced with a navette-shaped frame (this interlace-type motif is also called “entrelac”). It is centered by a pretty oval turquoise, and has a safety chain. Unsigned, and marked 9ct. It measures 1-1/2 x 3/4", and weighs 2.6g. The gold has a nice patina, and it is in excellent antique condition. Circa 1900. The photos are part of the description; please examine them carefully...

This sterling silver and enamel pendant comes out of the Arts & Crafts movement, spearheaded by William Morris, John Ruskin, et al. The enamel colors are associated with the women’s suffrage movement in the UK: green (Give), white (Women the), and violet (Vote) – or at least, that’s the story! The free-standing wire work (so unusual!) interlaces around the body of the piece, and holds an oval of mother-of-pearl in place. Also unusual is the use of brown enamel...

Here is a brooch combining the styles of Edwardian and Art Nouveau jewelry, and is remarkably similar to pieces by Whiteside & Blank that we’ve seen with the W&B maker’s mark; however it is unsigned (not unusual for the time). The pin consists of gold a framework enameled in palest green (almost white), in a formal Edwardian key pattern. In the middle is a sprig of leaves with a pearl berry; the stem twines around the framework in the Nouveau style. An interesting juxtaposition...

Here is a fantastic necklace, in the style of Murrle, Bennett and other Arts & Crafts designers of high renown. It is unsigned, which is not unusual. It features a central silver panel with a big labradorite cab, 3/4” x 9/16”. The whole panel with dangles measures 13/16” x 1-7/8”. The wearable length is 24”, and there are 20” worth of labradorite beads, most having the distinctive blue flash for which that stone is known...

Here is a very sweet little pansy pendant! Pansies have been equated with thoughtfulness, free thinking, and deep contemplation. Shakespeare’s Ophelia said "There's pansies, that's for thoughts." This little pansy is made from (tested) 10k gold, with a modern-looking 14k bale, probably the result of a later change. The enamel shades from dark yellow through to white, with some darker details, and a (cultured?) pearl center...

Here is a pretty pin by the very collectible Bippart, Griscomb & Osborn company of Newark, NJ (quite the hub of Art Nouveau jewelry c. 1900). It is centered by a turquoise cab, with 2 freshwater pearls on either side, framed by a sinuous ribbon of 14kt gold. It has the BG&O maker’s mark and is stamped 14kt (the marks were hard to photograph). 1-3/4” x 5/16” at the widest point, and it weighs 3.2g. The photos are part of the description. Here is a sterling silver buckle with a floral motif set off by plique a jour (translucent) enamel. These buckles with plique are quite unusual. The plique is red, two shades of blue, and green. It is signed with a “JK” above another “JK” in a box. It has marks for London, 1886, and a duty mark. Measuring 3-1/8” x 2-1/4", it weighs 32.7g or 1.16 oz. It is in very good condition. The plique has a few hairlines and some bubbles, which is normal. The red and blue plique is dark, so it’s...

Here is a petit pendant made by Jean-Baptiste-Emile Dropsy, one of the famous French medalists. The design was usually made out of a heavy gold plate, but this one is 18kt rosy gold, unmarked but tested. Signed by Dropsy on the front, as is usual with French medals, it measures 1/2” in diameter (with the jump ring, 7/8”), and weighs 1.5g. It could be worn as a pendant or a very classy charm. In excellent condition, showing a gentle patina, and circa 1900. The photos are part of the descript...

Here is a stick pin made in the shape of an arrow head. This gorgeous piece features a sparkly cognac-colored diamond of approximately 10 points (a tenth of a carat), but it looks bigger. Above and below the diamond are 2 lovely (cultured?) golden-hued pearls. It weighs 2.3g and is of unmarked but tested 14k yellow gold, which has been hammered to enhance the “arrow head” look – a great reminder that the Arts and Crafts era overlapped the Wild Wild West! It measures 1/2” x 7/16” x 2-1/...

Here is a classic “gypsy ring,” made from rich yellow 18kt gold. The center stone is a diamond, the outer two stones are rubies. It has decorative scroll work on the shoulders. The hallmarks are for Chester, 1903, and there is a maker’s mark that we can’t read. It weighs 4.0g, and is approximately size 5. The shank is a little off round, and it’s possible that it was sized at some time, however it is in excellent condition. The photos are part of the description; please examine them ca...

Here is a large amethyst, measuring about 10mm across. It is set in a framework of bright gold leaves that brings to mind the Arts and Crafts era, with another leaf on the bale, and a fringe of tiny seed pearls dangling below – sweet! From the top of the bale to the bottom of the fringe it measures 1-1/2”, and from side to side it is 3/4” at the widest points. It is marked and tested 14k gold and weighs 1.8g. We believe it was made during the 1960s, but we’re not sure – it could be ea...

Here is a very special necklace, combining an Art Nouveau central panel set with a freshwater pearl and a sapphire-blue paste stone with an Etruscan-style fringe. Unmarked, it really looks like gold, however it tests as rolled gold or gold fill (we haven’t tested the fringe for fear of obvious damage). The central panel measures 1-1/4” x 1-1/4” including the dangles. In total, there are 11 graduated dangles or drops, the longest being 3/4” and the shortest 3/8”. The total length is 16...
