This Edwardian/Art Nouveau necklace would be perfect for a bride … or anyone, really, at any time! It measures 1-1/4” at the widest point, and from the top-most diamond to the bottom of the dropper it is 2-1/4”. The dropper is a dogtooth pearl, 11/16” long, which has a collar of gold around it, set with 3 diamonds, and swirls of gold holding 4 more little pearls. The “wow” factor is terrific! The main section features 3 more tiny diamonds and 50+ seed pearls...

Here is a show-stopper of a necklace, with lots of amethysts and seed pearls! The rigid cross piece has a chain running above it, through loops over 5 oval amethysts with very nice color, each set into an inverted heart-shaped framework, and separated from the next by a tiny pearl. Set below each amethyst is a seed pearl, and below the framework are draping chains, the central 5 each having a freshwater pearl dangle. At each end of the bar is an additional little round amethyst, for a total of 7...

Here is a sash buckle composed of swirling flowers and a flower bud. This is a mixed-metal piece. The silver plate shows some wear - yellow metal shows through at some of the high points. We believe the gold to be about 9kt, and it’s some type of plating. The buckle measures 3 x 2-1/2" and weighs in at 47.5 grams. Unmarked...

The lavalier is made of 9 ct gold and is 1 1/8" by 1 1/2" plus the bale. Circa 1900. The 14 k gold 16" chain is new.

This wonderful antique,French necklace has all of the Wow! factor you expect from French jewelry. And it feels nothing short of opulent when you put it on. The necklace is 18 k gold (of course) open-work, with two palmate elements on each side. They join in a filigree-like round element that suspends a fifth, larger palmate element...

Here is a romantic stick pin for your lapel, depicting a woman in profile with a pearl nestled into the curls of her hair. It would make a great gift for a man or a woman, or a sweet addition to your own collection. Marked 14k, it’s made from yellow gold, and signed by the maker, Whiteside & Blank. It measures 2-3/8”, and weighs 2.0g. The pin is slightly bent, and the back is dented a little, but this doesn’t detract from the beauty of this enchanting jewel when worn. Historical note: Mr...

Here is a very classic brooch, in the style of Lucien Gautrait, featuring a ribbon and flower motif, with a ring of white enamel in the center. The pearl on the dangle may be a replacement (many dangles have had to be replaced over the years). The brooch is marked with the French eagle for 18k gold and partial owl marks with “73”, indicating a piece that was imported into France post 1893 and assayed in the town of Rouen...

Here is a sweet little pendant or charm made by Jean-Baptiste-Emile Dropsy, one of the famous French medalists. The design was usually made out of a heavy gold plate, but this one is 18kt rosy gold. Signed by Dropsy on the front, as is usual with French medals, it measures 1/2” in diameter (with the jump ring, 7/8”), and weighs 1.5g. In excellent condition, showing a gentle patina, and circa 1900. The photos are part of the description; please examine them carefully. Thanks! We do lay-away...

Here is a dainty little pin, measuring 7/8” across. Some of the leaves are enameled in shades of green, yellow and orange, alternating with leaves set with 3 seed pearls each. (The colors make it perfect for Fall or Spring!) It centers another seed pearl. The findings are original, with a neat security clasp. On the clasp is a maker’s mark consisting of an arrow with a circle at the end, most likely for Robert Klitz, of New York. No hallmarks, but it tests for 14k gold. Circa 1900...

A pretty necklace to liven any outfit! The bright turquoise in this lovely lavalier would be a bright accent for any outfit. The turquoise is an oval cabochon, and it is surrounded by gold 'ribbons' set with seed pearls. The use of 9 ct gold suggests an English origin but it is not hallmarked. It is is signed with the maker's mark SB & SLD in rounded rectangular lozenges. The lavalier comes with a 16" gold filled chain and is 1 1/4" X 1". Circa 1900.

This 9kt yellow gold necklace is centered by a dark red garnet, probably a spessartite. Garnets are the birthstone for January, and were traditionally thought to keep travelers safe. The dangle is set with a blister pearl of a mellow off-white color. There are 3 tiny seed pearls in the main setting. It is hallmarked “9ct”, and the attached chain is marked “375 9k.” The pendant measures 1-5/16" x 7/8", and the total length of the chain with the pendant is 16-3/4". The piece is in very goo...

Here is a pretty woman’s face in profile. Her long golden hair trails down to end with a tiny baroque or freshwater pearl. Total length of the face, hair and pearl a little less than 3/4”. This design was based on a drawing by Charles Dana Gibson – a Gibson Girl! (See the final photograph.) It is marked 14k, weighs 1.2g, and is in excellent condition. It doesn’t have a maker’s mark, but we have seen this same stick pin with Alling’s mark. Circa 1910. The photos are part of the descr...

This lovely (unmarked but tested) 10kt gold jewel is from the early 1800s (around Jane Austen's time), when cannetille work was the vogue: very fine gold wires twisted into thin ropes and then formed into rosettes and other shapes. The amethyst has a lovely delicate shade of purple, and weighs approximately 2.5 carats – it’s very deep. (Amethysts are said to bring calm, and help banish headaches.) The whole lavalier, including the bale, measures 1-1/2 x 9/16”. Two of the seed pearls are mi...

Here is a pretty ring, composed of 7 amethysts, birthstone for February (and in legend, thought to guard against poison) and on either side of the cluster, a bezel-set accent diamond and one tiny half seed pearl. The ring is approximately size 6.5, and would be easy to re-size. It is marked 10K and signed “ECI”. In excellent condition, with just a bit of patina. The gold is yellow, despite looking rosy in the photos. The photos are part of the description; please examine them carefully. We ...

Here is a classic Art Nouveau stick pin centered by an amethyst, birthstone for February. Back in the day, amethysts were thought to prevent drunkenness, as well as being a cure for headaches (we sense a theme here). There is a seed pearl above and one below, all mounted in a (marked and tested) 14k “whiplash” framework (the whiplash motif was very popular with Nouveau artists). Measuring 1/2” x 2-1/4" long, it weighs 1.5g. There is an illegible maker’s mark. The pin is curved, but could...
