Here is a show-stopper of a necklace, with lots of amethysts and seed pearls! The rigid cross piece has a chain running above it, through loops over five oval amethysts with very nice color, each set into an inverted heart-shaped framework, and separated from the next by a tiny pearl. Set below each amethyst is a seed pearl, and below the framework are draping chains, the central five each having a freshwater pearl dangle...

A bit of history! This charming 14 k gold pin sports an enameled flag, initials, thee number five, and the date 1860. The pin is 1 X 1/1/2" in size and is an homage to the Daughters of Liberty, which was formed ~1766, shortly after formation of The Sons of Liberty. This group of brave women boycotted British products and made use of traditional women's skills such as weaving and spinning, to support the cause of liberty.

Here is an engaging portrait in silver, of a wind-swept youthful person clad in a cloak and hood. It’s very detailed and just lovely. We think it’s a boy (very unusual in jewelry), as the hair seems to be quite short under the hood. The hood itself looks like a cap made from a flower, as seen on fairies in Victorian children’s books. It measures 1-1/8” wide, is hollow, and is marked “STERLING TOP GERMAN SILVER BACK”. The (sterling) front is in very good condition...

Here is a beautiful gold necklace from France, highlighting roses. Roses have been symbolic of love and remembrance for centuries, as well as passion, purity, and happiness. Lovely for Valentine’s Day, or any other! This necklace is so elegant! Measuring 17-5/8”, the delicate chain is adorned with 3 roses, each with leaves below. The rest of the chain consists of a further 12 fancy links. Each fancy link measures 7/16”, and each rose is 3/4” x 5/8”. It weighs 4.2 g...

Here is a pair of very unusual cuff links! We have only seen one other pair with photos. Each cuff link has a photograph of an elegant lady in a white high-necked blouse with upswept hair. These were clearly worn a lot, based on the patina, but they still look great. The 10k marks are on the back of the fronts only, not on the “torpedo” ends, and we don’t like to test torpedoes, so can’t promise that they are also 10k, but they certainly look it...

Here is a lovely Victorian cameo, set in flourishes of yellow gold and decorated with 4 pearls. The background is a slightly darker pink than the lady. The attention to detail in the carving is very nice, and she is in excellent condition. There is one missing pearl, but it’s unnoticeable. It seems to say “SIG” in script across the back. The bale is signed with “10K” inside what looks like a stylized “C”. It measures 1-13/16” not including the bail, by 1”...

Here is a very Victorian brooch, consisting of a navette-shaped border of rose gold surrounding an oval of yellow gold which highlights a flower and two leaves of rose gold. It tests as 10k, and is signed “A.J.C”. Measuring 1-3/4” x 3/8”, it weighs 3.2g. In overall good condition, but it could use some cleaning up. This pin came out of an important household in Newport, RI as a gift, circa 1900. The photos are part of the description; please examine carefully. Thanks! We do lay-away...

Here is a gorgeous necklace featuring 13 madeira citrines (citrine is the birthstone for November, said to bring optimism and joy into life) – 3 clusters of 3 each, and 4 set singly. The central cluster has a pearl dangle. The rich rose gold is marked 9ct on the clasp, but it tests as a weak 10k. No other marks. Wearable length is 18-3/4”. In excellent condition. The clasp is a little fussy, but could easily be replaced; we don’t want to do that, since it’s original to the piece...

Here is a delightful lioness with emerald-green glass eyes, and a diamond in her mouth. The detailing of her face – whiskers, mane, etc. - are very nicely done. She is made from unmarked but tested 14kt yellow gold. Her head measures 1/2” x 5/8”, and the total length is 2-3/4”. The pin is very straight, which is somewhat unusual! In excellent antique condition. Circa 1900. The photos are part of the description. Please examine them carefully. Thanks! We do lay-away. Shipping, handling...

Here is a pair of identical gold pins made from a richly colored yellow gold. They would be an excellent addition to your collection of Victorian jewelry! Measuring 1-1/4” x 1/4”, they say “BEBE” on the front. They test as 9k, weigh 3.0 g, and the findings are signed “VID”. There are tiny flowers and other floral designs at the edges. It looks like the safety-pin findings are old replacements. One of them has 2 brownish stains on the back, otherwise they are in excellent condition. T...

Here is a very elegant band, with a continuous wheat sheaf pattern (wheat signifies love and charity). It was made at the turn of the last century, according to jewelry historian Christie Romero (RIP). She also told us it was probably made using a process called “die rolling.” It is marked “22ct”, “PLATINUM” (the platinum is under the gold, as you can see in the photos), and the maker’s mark is “B’s”. It is size 5-1/4 plus a little, and it cannot be sized. 5.6 grams. It is i...

Here is a wonderfully detailed iris, centered by a tiny single cut diamond. Irises symbolize faith, hope, wisdom and courage – what better way to enhance your lapel? Unmarked, the yellow gold tests as 10k. It measures 2-1/2" long. The iris is 7/8” x 1/2”, and it weighs 1.1g. In excellent condition and circa 1900. The photos are part of the description; please examine them carefully. Thanks! We do lay-away. Shipping, handling & insurance within the USA included.

Here is a very pretty 15kt yellow gold double-cluster ring: a cluster of pearls centered by a ruby, and a cluster of rubies centered by a diamond. In the center of each is a star motif (Star of David, perhaps?) in gold. Ruby is the birthstone for July. The ring is hallmarked for Birmingham, England and 15 karat gold, and a date mark for 1877, and also a maker’s mark for “P&E”. Size 7-1/2. One of the pearls may be a replacement, and one pearl prong is missing. Someone used tiny amounts of g...

Here is a pretty French lavalier, which measures 1-1/8” (not including the jump ring) by 11/16”. It features 3 rose cut diamonds and 3 pearls. Marked only “DEPOSE” (translates roughly as “patented”), it tests as 18k. The stones are set in white metal, but it’s hard to tell whether it’s gold or platinum. 2.1g. We believe this used to be part of a larger piece, however, the transformation was done very skillfully, and it is in overall very good condition. There is a small dent on t...

Here is a simple and elegant stickpin with a stylized flower design, based on a Japanese family crest. It is marked “k20” on the back, and tests as a very strong 20kt. The flower head measures 1/2 x 7/8”, and the whole pin is 2-1/2” long. It weighs 2.4g. The pin is a bit bent, not surprisingly given the high gold content (please see photos), and course that can’t be seen when it’s worn. Otherwise in excellent condition. Circa 1900. Japanese art had a huge influence on the Art Nouveau...

Here is a really pretty Victorian ring with scroll work on the shank. The center decoration is a horizontal row of seed pearls, with two red stones to the north and south. One stone is badly chipped, and both are abraded. One of them might be a doublet, but otherwise we don’t know what they are, because of the abrasions, so assume “paste” (glass). It is stamped 10K, and is approximately size 8. It could be sized. Circa 1900. The photos are part of the description so please examine them ca...
