Here is a very pretty lavalier or pendant, with enamel on both sides - unusual for Arts & Crafts pieces. The front has a central panel in a beautiful peacock blue, and 2 outer panels in the shape of stylized hearts, in a darker blue. The back is sky-blue (somewhat worn at a few of the high points). There is a freshwater pearl drop. It weighs 2.1g and measures 1-5/8” from the top of the bail to the bottom of the pearl...

Here is a highly detailed pin by Edmond-Henri Becker, one of the best-known French medalists. We really love all the details! The front shows Joan of Arc (patron saint of France and of soldiers) in profile, also a shield decorated with a sword, a crown, and 2 fleurs-de-lis. Above her head is a banner saying “Jehanne d’Arc” and “1429”. The back shows a banner with a saint (or possibly the Madonna and Child – the metal is somewhat worn here) with two people praying...

The coin tests as silver, most likely sterling. On one side is the face of Friedrich (presumably) and his wife, a Maltese cross, and the words “FRIEDRICH * I * 1701 * WILHELM * II * 1901”, on the other side is an eagle with a crown above, and “DEUTSCHES REICH 1901 ZWEI MARK”. The rest is white metal. The swivel clasp has a mark, which looks like a plow. We haven’t been able to track it down. The coin and split ring weigh approximately .40oz, and the whole thing .94oz...

Here is a striking brooch featuring poppies with curved flowing lines, mounted on a mother-of-pearl oval. Poppies symbolize sleep (remember Dorothy in “The Wizard of Oz”?), rest, and eternal life. The flower is silver plate, and is worn on the high places (we find that those bits actually serve to highlight the design). The mother of pearl is convex. It measures 1-3/4” x 1-3/8”. The pin assembly is mounted on a base metal plaque, and is of the old style...

Here is a maple leave pin, consisting of plique a jour enamel and silver. Antique plique a jour (translucent enamel) jewels are hard to come by these days – they are somewhat fragile and rare, and we believe that many of them are now in private collections. This lovely pin is highlighted with paste accent stones along the main leaf veins. The green plique is a very nice rich color. It seems to be missing one leaf...

Here is a wonderful bracelet by Schaverien & Eastmead of Birmingham, England. It is 7” long and 3/8” wide at the widest points, with 5 enameled panels shading from dark green to pale green to magenta and back again. In between each panel is a round blister pearl. Each connecting link has a hard-to-read mark, probably a lion, also the marks for Birmingham, 1909, and “S&E”. The clasp has a safety chain...

Here is a heavily engraved silver pin is from the estate of Helen Aman, who escaped from the Bolshevik Revolution to (eventually) settle in California. It was one of the jewels from her childhood. It consists of a bell (with a clapper – but it doesn’t chime) dangling from an angled bar. Marked 84 for 875 silver, it also has a partial city mark, which we believe is for Moscow. It measures 1-3/8” x 7/8", and is in excellent antique condition, with a nice patina...

Tiny and charming. The pin is made of 800 silver, enameled on both front and back, and centered with a square-cut peridot. The pin is 3/4" in diameter. Enamel is slightly worn on the front, but is in better condition on the back. There is a small chip in the stone. Enough negativity! It's a lovely pin! It is marked with the dog's head quality mark that shows it is 800 silver, made between 1872 & 1922 in Austro-Hungary and an A for the maker.

This gorgeous vulture is made of gilded silver [800] and plique a jour. It's a Victorian pin in the Egyptian Revival Style. The translucent wings are yellow-green, shading to burnt orange. The tops of the wings are opaque enamel in yellowish green. The pin is centered with a matching yellowish green stone which is to date [and probably forever] unidentified. It is not peridot, nor is it glass. The pin is 2" across and is circa 1880.

Here is a very sweet pin showing two cupids, a boy and a girl, looking sweet, serene, and loving. Their plique a jour (translucent enamel) wings are a pale purple or mauve color, nicely complimenting the 900 silver. The girl is wearing a tiny necklace of roses. The pin measures 1” x 1-3/4” and weighs 5.7g. The clasp might be a replacement, but the rest is all original, and the pin is in excellent antique condition...

Charles Horner was a major maker of Arts & Craft enamel pieces. This necklace is simple, with its shaded green and blue enamel and pleasingly elegant sterling silver frame. It is signed Charles Horner and is on a 14" chain. The hallmarks indicate it is sterling and was made in Chester in 1912-3. The enamel pendant is 3/4 X 1".

Here is a striking pendant out of the Arts & Crafts movement, which is enameled in an intense blue with areas of a much lighter blue. The dropper shades from a pale green through a lighter blue into the intense blue which echoes the color of the main part of the pendant. The back is marked “sterling silver”, and the dropper is marked silver. It measures 1-3/8 x 1-3/16, and is on a modern 18” sterling chain. In very good condition overall. The enamel shows a little bit of wear around the ed...

Enameled bows on each side and a fresh water pearl dropper finish the design. Here is a sky-blue enameled pendant with a blue enameled dropper. It tests as silver, most likely sterling. It has two shades of light blue enamel on the front, highlighted by flourishes in silver. The dropper is also enameled in shaded hues of blue. The enamel continues on the back in sky blue – what wonderful attention to detail! Excluding the bale, it is 1-1/2” long by just under 3/4” across. There are two tiny areas of enamel damage on the back, and a few areas that could use some clea...

This plique a jour pendant is centered with an oval white opal and accented with eight colorless brilliants. The dropper is a fresh water pearl. The translucent enamel is an unusual and lovely blue in color. Plique a jour, that unusual, difficult, and beautiful technique, dates from the 15th century. It was used by Cellini, then revived in the late 1800s in France. The metal frame in this lovely piece is 900 silver, suggesting that the piece is most likely German or Austrian in origin. Circa ...
