Simple, classic, and lovely, this stick pin features an oval of pale pink “angel skin” coral, measuring 9/16” x 3/8”. The whole thing is 2-7/8” long. Unmarked, it tests as 14k gold. The setting has a waving edge, and cut outs to reveal the coral along the sides. Pink coral is said to restore harmony to the heart. It weighs 3.0g. The pin is a little bent, otherwise in excellent condition and circa 1910. The photos are part of the description; please examine them carefully. Thanks! Shi...

This pretty pin has a lotus or water lily motif highlighted with a tiny pearl. (The lotus is a symbol of purity and enlightenment, especially to Buddhists.) It is unmarked but tests as 10kt gold. It measures 1-1/8”, and weighs in at 0.04 oz. It would look lovely on a lapel or blouse. Circa 1900. The photos are part of the description; please examine them carefully. Thanks! Joan is one of the patron saints of France, and patron saint of soldiers. This is an intricate design by Edmond-Henri Becker, well-known French medalist. The front of this piece shows Joan of Arc in profile, also a shield decorated with a sword, a crown, and 2 fleurs-de-lis. Above her head is a banner saying “1429” and “Jehanne d’Arc”. The back shows a banner with a saint (or possibly the Madonna and Child – the metal is a bit worn here) with two people praying. Also shown are a spea...

This ring is centered by a beautiful piece of navette-shaped lapis lazuli (traditionally a stone of royalty, also signifying truth and inner strength), with specks of pyrite for a bit of sparkle. The stone measures 3/4” N to S, and 1/4” E to W. The setting is made of 14k yellow gold, formed into graceful curlicues. It is stamped 14k, and also has a maker’s mark, which appears to be “KBN” and also a dot in a circle. The size is between 5-1/4 and 5-1/2, and it weighs 5.5g. This is an old...

This elegant sterling silver fancy-link chain from the era of the Titanic (but possibly as late as the Art Deco period – Downton Abbey!), is interesting enough to be worn on its own, or you could hang a pendant or watch from it. The clasp is stamped “Sterling”. It measures 26”, and the links are 1/4” or 4mm wide at the widest point. It weighs 5.6g, and is in excellent condition. Here is a pretty brush with repousse decorations depicting Art Nouveau lilies on the top, and fancy swirls on the handle. It measures 5-3/4” x 3". It is stamped Sterling, and there are other, illegible, marks. There is a little bit of damage to the silver at the top of the brush, which is shown in - and is actually exaggerated by – the photos. The handle has a plain area on both sides, ready for your monogram. On one side this area has some dings to it. On the other side the photos show cam...

We love this pin! The colors are so pretty, and the leafy design is so very Arts & Crafts. It consists of a berry and leaf motif, highlighted by a central cushion-cut blue chalcedony (thought to bring good luck), with a circular green aventurine on either side. Measuring 1-1/4” x 3/8", it is unmarked but tests as silver. It is in excellent condition, although the pin is a little bent. The pin stem assembly may be a replacement, but if so, it’s quite an old repair. Circa 1900. The photos are ...

This brooch combines the styles of Art Nouveau and Edwardian jewelry, and is remarkably similar to a couple of pieces by Whiteside & Blank that we’ve seen; however it is unsigned (not unusual for the time). The pin consists of a framework enameled in very pale green, in a formal Edwardian key pattern. In the middle is a sprig of leaves with a pearl berry; the stem twines around the framework in back, in a Nouveau fashion. There are 3 additional pearls set on the frame. It is marked (and tested...

Here is a sterling buckle with a floral motif highlighted with plique a jour (translucent enamel). These buckles with plique are quite unusual. The plique is red, two shades of blue, and green. It is signed with a “JK” above another “JK” in a box. It has marks for London, 1886, and a duty mark. Measuring 3-1/8” x 2-1/4", it weighs 32.7g or 1.16 oz. It’s in quite good condition. The plique has a few hairlines and some bubbles, which is common. The red and blue plique is dark, so it’...

We love this necklace! It features a central (tested) silver panel with a big labradorite cab, 3/4” x 9/16”. The whole panel with dangles measures 13/16” x 1-7/8”. The dangles are set with more labradorite cabs on chains. The wearable length is 24”, and there are 20” worth of labradorite beads, most having the distinctive blue flash for which that stone is known. The clasp has a very pretty flower and leaf design, and it’s stamped 925 on the back. The beads are on knotted string, a...

Although this jewel is English, it reflects the aesthetics of fin de siècle Russia, with its pink topazes and demantoid garnets. The fairly large topazes are surrounded by swirls of seed-pearl-set gold, and set off by 4 bright green demantoid garnets, 2 of which are set into the fine chains which connect the top section to the bottom; of the other 2, the top one is a modified pear shape, the other oval. It measures 2” long by 1-1/8” across at the widest point, and weighs 5.4g. In overall ex...

We think this guy is just adorable! The pin is unmarked, but the gold tests at about 12k. The total length is 2-1/8”, the dog’s face is 1-1/2” x 7/16”, and it weighs 0.9g. He may be a Weimaraner. They were bred as hunting dogs in the early 1800s in Germany, and were named after the Grand Duke Weimar. In real life they are a silvery color, but this guy is a nice warm gold. Wikipedia tells us “The Weimaraner is loyal and loving to his family, an incredible hunter, and a fearless guardian...

This wonderful Georgian ring could have been worn by one of Jane Austen’s more well-to-do characters! It features a rose-cut diamond (pointed top instead of flat), set in 14kt gold with decorations in black enamel on the shank, which are still in excellent condition. Diamond is the birthstone for April. The ring is approximately a size 5. It isn’t possible to estimate the weight of set rose cut diamonds; it is in the I range for clarity – normal for its era. Unmarked, it is pre-1836 (Miss ...

This fun pin from England features a large peridot (1 cm x 6 mm or 3/8” x 2/8”), and, on either side, pearl-set golden clover. Flanking those are 3 demantoids per side, plus 1 above and 1 below the peridot. Peridot symbolizes spring, youthfulness, and they are said to bring health and wealth. It also features 8 tiny demantoid garnets. Off to either side is a whiplash of pearl-set gold. On the back, “15ct” is engraved into the gold. The brooch weighs 5.1 g and measures 1-9/16” x 5/8”...

Here is a very Victorian ring with pretty scrollwork on the shank. The center decoration is a horizontal row of seed pearls, and two red stones north and south. One stone is badly chipped, and both are abraded. One of them might be a doublet, but otherwise we don’t know what they are. It is stamped 10K, and is approximately a size 8. Circa 1900. The photos are part of the description so please examine them carefully. Thanks! Shipping, handling & insurance within the USA included.
