Here is a highly detailed pin by Edmond-Henri Becker, one of the best-known French medalists. We really love all the details! The front shows Joan of Arc (patron saint of France and of soldiers) in profile, also a shield decorated with a sword, a crown, and 2 fleurs-de-lis. Above her head is a banner saying “Jehanne d’Arc” and “1429”. The back shows a banner with a saint (or possibly the Madonna and Child – the metal is somewhat worn here) with two people praying. Also shown are a spear, the pommel of a sword, and a leafy branch, possibly laurel. On the front is Becker’s signature, and on the C-clasp, a mark for A. Savard (the House of Savard), and an illegible mark. It tests as sterling, and has an age-appropriate patina, and some wear to some of the letters. The brooch measures just over 1” in diameter. C. 1900. The photos are part of the description; please examine them carefully. Thanks! We do lay-away. Shipping, handling & insurance within the USA included.
