Chinese Qing dynasty Jiaqing period porcelain dish decorated in famille rose enamels against a turquoise ground with a Manchu official in a lavender robe and queue standing on the road watching another official with his attendants pass by on horseback. Both men are wearing the peacock feather hat of a Manchu official. The outside rim of the dish is decorated with three floral sprays and the base bears a six-character orange-red zhuanshu form Jiaqing reign mark (1796-1829). 19th century and of the period. 6 1/4” diameter by 1 1/2” high. Very good overall condition. There is an old browned hairline at the rim (see enlargements 6 and 7) and a faint fine old line is evident behind the reign mark on the base. The rim has typical rubbing of the gilt and there is characteristic wear to the turquoise background. From the private collection of a former American resident in Guangzhou and Beijing from 1983-1987.
