Chinese Qing dynasty Guangxu period ginger jar decorated in the Kangxi style in underglaze blue with densely leaved lotus scrolls on a slightly off-white porcelain ground. A stylized ruyi head border encirles the unglazed neck and a band of upright leaves extends around the base. The glazed base has an underglaze blue double circle at the center. The interior is glazed but the knife cut foot rim is unglazed. Measures about 7 1/8” high x about 7” diameter. Late 19th century. Very good overall condition with only a small nick at the rim. This jar is from the private collection of a former American resident in Guangzhou and Beijing from 1983-1987.
