Pair of Chinese Qing dynasty Daoguang (1821-1850) mark and period scalloped edge porcelain bowls finely decorated on the exterior in famille rose enamels with birds among marsh flowers and plants set against a sea foam green background. A wave pattern accented by rust-red bats extends around the foot. Turquoise base and interior. A square rust-red six-character zhuanshu Daoguang mark is on the base. Wood stands are included. Each bowl measures 7 7/8” - 8” diameter x 2 5/8" high (excluding wood stands). Very good overall condition. There is a fine quality professional restoration to a rim chip on one bowl and to an old rim hairline on the other bowl. The restorations are not visible under black light. There is some wear to the gilt at the rim. There are a few tiny areas where the turquoise pigment in the interior extends over the edge onto the sea foam background. These bowls are from an old Tucson, Arizona collection by descent. They were originally purchased in New York City in the mid-20th century.
