Antique anonymous Korean eight-panel screen decorated in ink and color on paper with scenes of Mongol horsemen in a hilly landscape hunting tigers, wild boar, deer, birds, and rabbits with a variety of weapons. The mounting is green silk brocade. Early 20th century to possibly late Joseon dynasty. Full screen: 52” high x 138” long (painting size per panel: 14.5" high x 17” wide (two end panels: 14.5” square). Very good overall condition with no tears or punctures on the front. There are a few punctures to the paper lining on the back. The silk has faintly discolored in some areas and there are three water stains to one panel at the very bottom. Some foxing is evident on the paintings and silk mounting. There is some minor wear to the pigment and a few possible old repairs to the paintings. Tucson, Arizona collection. The current owner purchased the screen in Florida in the 1970s from a former diplomat to Korea.
