Rarely encountered Chinese Tang dynasty (618-907) pottery figure of a court gentleman (often referred to as a “fat man”) wearing a scarf hat and dressed in a long, belted gown with one arm raised, his hand covered by his voluminous sleeve, and the other hand holding the belt. An acrylic stand is included. 14 1/4” high (excluding stand). Circa 7th to 8th century. Very good overall condition with nice detailing. From an Arizona collection. Purchased in Hong Kong in 1996.
