Rare Japanese sosaku hanga woodblock print by Shiogoshi Yoshinori (b. 1935) depicting a bird standing on one leg set against a background with a strong wood grain. The body of the bird resembles a fish produced using the gyotaku printing method. Pencil-signed, dated 1959, and titled in kanji "Bird." Paper: 17 3/4" x 10 3/4" (image: 15 3/8" x 8 1/2"). Very good overall condition. There are four tape stains to the back margin edges that show through to the front and there is a slight amount of wrinkling to the paper at the upper right margin. Yoshinori's woodblock prints are seldom encountered. An example can be found in the online collection of the Art Institute of Chicago. This print is from a Phoenix, Arizona collection.
