Japanese Kutani porcelain bowl decorated in gilt and overglaze polychrome enamels with a scene depicting two figures seated outdoors under a tree conversing. A geometric band interspersed with white flowers decorates the interior rim. There are fine "ao tsubu" (green dot) accents. The exterior is decorated on each side with a prominent yellow flower and ribbons. The base is signed in red "Kutani made." Believed to date from the Showa Period (circa 1926 - 1935). Measures 9 1/2" diameter x 2 3/4"H. The overall condition is good with virtually no wear to the gilt or enamel. There is an old fairly well executed repair to one of the flowers on the interior rim (see enlargement 8).
