Chinese Qing dynasty Guangxu period porcelain ginger jar decorated in colorful famille rose enamels with two panels, each featuring Xiwangmu holding a scepter and riding a qilin in a garden setting while a young male attendant shades her with a parasol. The reserves alternate with a yellow background featuring purple-blue double happiness symbols, flowers, and scrolling foliage. Late 19th century to circa 1900. 8 3/8" high x about 8 1/2" diameter. Very good overall condition with wear and light scratches consistent with the age. No chips or cracks. There is one flaw or burst glaze bubble on the robe of the beauty (see enlargement 9) and there is no lid.
