According to Kathy Flood's book "Vintage Visages" The showgirl in profile was one of the most alluring face pins ever created, and there are dozens of versions of it - some in gems and gold, and others in all types of costume metals. This one is one of the more sought after cotume versions because she has a rhinestone paved face and orchid enamel tresses, as Kathy calls them. In fact, this is the pin pictured page 38 of her book.
This pin is large and heavy. Dimensions are 3 1/4" x 2 1/4". Th hair is set with red rhinestones and, as is true of most of these pins, the face and hair are two different pieces "swedged" together. Most of these are from the early part of the 1940s and for being as old as she is, this lady is in pretty good shape. There is some slight wear on the enamel, but other than that, she is a lovely brooch. Like most of these, she is not signed.
