This interesting little ceramic figure is purportedly from the Majapahit period (1293-1500)of Eastern Java. Possibly a religious figure, it is barefoot and has tribal head-dress and flowing robes. There does appear to be a light colored glaze underneath the surface dirt which I have not attempted to remove or clean. The statue is just under 20 cm in height and weighs 444 grams. This is a truly unique piece of ancient artwork, the likes of which we have not seen. Feel free to email with comments ...

This marvelous piece of ancient pottery is an offering vessel, sometimes referred to as a "spirit jar", from roughly the Five Dynasties period (907-960 AD) of Classic Imperial China. These intriguing vessels first appeared to Western collectors around the turn of the century and were quite a delightful find. Appearing in the ruins of a long forgotten monastery near Kunming, hundreds of these jars were discovered in many several sites in Yunnan. There are many styles of these offering vessels but...

This is a wonderful example of a Han Dynasty (206 BC - 220 AD) pottery tomb soldier. This little man originally had wooden arms and cloth adornments that have long since rotted away. This specimen measures roughly 54 cm in height and appears fully intact. Many of these fragile pottery figures have been expertly repaired and without x-rays it would be difficult if not impossible to tell whether this one has been restored. Authenticity is of course guaranteed for life.

This offering is for a pair of Han Dynasty tomb soldiers, one of which is extremely unique. The first soldier is NOT your typical Han Dynasty (circa 200 BC) tomb figure. This extraordinarily rare piece is quite literally one of a kind. Note the position of his hands in front of him - this is indicative of a special member of the color guard. There generally would be one "color guard" for every 100 or more of the regular infantry soldiers that you commonly see for sale in other galleries. Given t...

This is a very nice pottery vessel from the Ban Chiang culture in ancient Thailand, Udon Province (circa 200 BC). It has very intricate, geometric designs typical of Ban Chiang pieces. The designs are both incised into the clay and then painted. Incised and painted, pedestaled pottery is one of the rarest types. As with most ancient pottery, this piece has been professionally restored from large fragments. It is roughly 18cm tall. Pieces such as this regularly sell for over $1000. Don't miss thi...

Here is a great little decorated Khmer or Champa pottery pipe. This particular piece is heavily decorated with some minor damage in the form of chips to the rims and body. It measures almost 6cm in length. I currently have three of these that were all recovered by divers from the red river delta, which accounts for their pristine condition.
