This is an ancient Chinese bronze piece called a zhun. It was designed to be put on the bottom end of a pole mounted weapon. This particular piece is from the famed Arthur M Sackler collection and was purchased through Christies in New York. Their tag will stay with the piece. There are stylized animal motifs on the body and the overall style and type are characteristic of weapons used in the Warring States period (ca 400 BCE). The piece is solid and stable with no signs of repair or restoration. This is a rare opportunity to own an authentic antiquity with great provenance. It measures 10 cm in length and weighs 86 grams.
