This interesting set of three pieces was purchased from Christies auction house in New York in April of 2010, Sale #2301 lot 253. These are rare and well-provenanced pieces of the Arthur M Sackler collection. The auction house tags will remain with each piece. It consists of three pieces which appear to fit together. The bottom piece would hold hot coals while the middle piece held the food. The top doubled as a bowl to eat from. There are some losses and degradation to the pieces due to their age. They date to the Han Dynasty or earlier. The set as assembled measures roughly 16 cm in height and weighs roughly 1663 grams. This is a fantastic opportunity to own such a rare set. Each piece has the Sackler collection number on it as well as some Chinese characters written in black ink - probably from the original find. Feel free to contact with questions.
