This offering is for a pair of Han Dynasty tomb soldiers, one of which is extremely unique. The first soldier is NOT your typical Han Dynasty (circa 200 BC) tomb figure. This extraordinarily rare piece is quite literally one of a kind. Note the position of his hands in front of him - this is indicative of a special member of the color guard. There generally would be one "color guard" for every 100 or more of the regular infantry soldiers that you commonly see for sale in other galleries. Given the offset position of his hands, it is quite possible that this piece was the drummer for the color guard, in which case he would be the only one of his kind in a given tomb of up to 500 soldiers (or more). He comes with a standard infantry soldier from the same tomb and the pair is offered here for the drastically low price of $4995. The appraisal value for this figure alone is in excess of $7000.00 and his companion is valued at around $1000.00. A thermo-luminescence test (valued at $500) from Oxford authentication verifying the age of this piece is included at no extra charge. Additional pictures and provenance information available on request. I doubt you will see another figure like this available anywhere at any price. The composite picture of "soldier 1" shows the TL test sites on the rear.
"Soldier 2" is the Standard infantry soldier that will be included with the purchase of the color guard soldier. He comes from the same tomb as the color guard soldier but has no stand or TL test. As you can see he is in great condition with much of his original color. There are no signs of repair or restoration but as with all antiquities, there may be some undetectable repair or restoration.
