Gorgeous sterling silver, amethyst and pearl necklace designed and signed circa 1960-70's by San Miguel de Allende, Mexico artist Carmen Beckmann. Including the bail the pendant measures 3 1/2" long X 2 1/4" wide. Intricately designed the cross shaped pendant is comprised of 6 large gem quality faceted amethyst stones and 4 prong set pearls. The amethysts are framed with silver rope boarders. In addition the piece is embellished with applied silver wires and silver beads. The 34" long sterling silver chain is detachable and holds 65 faceted gem quality amethyst stones. The chain can be worn as a single or double necklace as there is a clasp. All stones are in beautiful condition with no chips or cracks. The pendant and chain have not been polished in years giving the piece a warm, soft patina. The stones are in fantastic condition with no chips or cracks. Pendant signed on the back BECKMANN STERLING MEXICO. Penny Morrill's book MEXICAN SILVER devotes pages 233 and 234 to the work of this talented artist.
