Sculptural rosewood and sterling silver object c. 1951 signed by American and Taxco, Mexican artist William Spratling (1900-67). The design measures 3 1/4" tall and features 3 silver rings that move or spin around the base. Signed on the reverse with the rare SPRATLING OF MEXICO hallmark used for only 1 year (1951). The piece is in beautiful condition. No chips or cracks. The grain in the wood is exceptional. Spratling designs are the central focus of the 20th Century Mexican Silver collection in the Latin American wing at Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
